Second win for Galway

Kilkenny City 0-1 Galway United
Galway United got the better of nine-man Kilkenny City thanks to a Mike Goldbey strike 23 minutes from time.

The goal came after Colin Fortune found some space and crossed for Goldbey to guide the ball into the Kilkenny net.

It was enough to guarantee Galway a 1-0 win and Kilkenny suffered two red cards in the later stages of the game as their frustration boiled over. Craig Maher and Anthony Tobin made the long walk for the home side much to the anger of manager Tommy Lynch.

Kilkenny City - Fitzpatrick, Maher, Whelan, M Andrews, Tobin, Murphy (Flaherty 84), Raggett, N Andrews, Barry (Rea 64), Wood, Comerford (Quilty 70).

Galway United - Forde, Harte, Quirk, Frawley, Keady, Fortune, Goldbey, Herrick (Lawless 44), Geraghty (Quinlan 60), Murphy, Folan.
