"Microsoft will reimburse any customer who was out of warranty and paid for repairs due to issues indicated by the three flashing red lights error message. Customers should expect to receive a cheque in 10-12 weeks."
If this helps any?

Ring microsoft help desk they extended the 1 year warranty to 2 years but you are ment to get 3 years in ireland. they are quite good at fixing them they will collect them and fix it and drop it back but it just takes a while.

Shannon, same happened me. Log on to the xbox site and follow the instructions. Be sure to state the Red Eye reason if it says you are out of warranty. A pain no doubt but they sorted it our within 3 weeks and give me one months membership for the online stuff.

The same thing happened to mine, all I had to do was go into Smyths and say what was wrong and I was given a new one. I wasn't even asked for a receipt or anything.

You are entitled to get a new one from the store you bought it in if you had bought it less than one year previous.
If its more than one year since you bought it then you have to go the Microsoft route. Make sure you tell them its the red rings and get them to email the labels to you. Then call the courier company to arrange pick up.

You're entitled to it, regardless of the passage of time. If you feel wronged, and I know i would be if a multi-hundred euro machine packed in after 13 months, you have every right to a refund, repair or replacement, or at least to claim one and have it arbitrated. One never has to deal with the manufacturer/supplier unless one chooses to do so for clarity or confidence of service.
