No problem says Geoghegan

Shelbourne striker Stephan Geoghegan says that while he was disappointed by Pat Fenlon’s decision to drop him from the squad for the defeat to Derry City, he is not one to sulk and will work hard to get back in the team.

Geoghegan was injured in the build up to Thursday night’s game, which saw the league leaders suffer their first defeat of the season. His foot injury swelled up slightly but improved to such an extent that he was able to declare himself match fit for Thursday’s game.

“It was my good foot, the right one, and it did swell up a fait bit, but I still told Pat not to worry, that I would still be able to play,” revealed Geoghegan.

“We stayed overnight on the Wednesday an he told me after training on Thursday morning that he was playing Ger McCarthy, not me.

“I’m not sulking, but I wouldn’t be human if I didn’t feel a little bit peeved. The bottom line is that I was available to play and I wanted to but there will be other games for me to play.”
