frank played for cork celtic who played loi football from 1959-1979, so is allowed to be mentioned as loi legend,

prob was another franko mentioned on site but who cares he is one of our own and we can class him how we like

For Ramblers it would have to be Packie for his service and appearance record alone. Frank and George are Ramblers legends but not LOI legends as Frank didn't play LOI for us and George only played LOI for us for a couple of seasons as far as I know.

Can anyone actually confirm that.... maybe one of our "older" members? ;)

i know is not very old, but john o rourke jnr can be classed as a legend in my eyes from acobh point of view, won numerous medals in his career and is still loved by shels fans

There's an argument for that alright but in my opinion John really came to the fore in our final season in the Premier in 94/95. He really was superb that season and his form earned him his move to Shels, where he continued that form before his injury. It wasn't long before that really that he was criticised by a lot of our fans, although in fairness that was when he was played up front.

well put, always a true pro though, even when he managed the club he did things right, doomed to failure on that as the knives were out for him from the start because his old man was chair.
another true pro (and nutter) philip long know he played most of his career for city but when he played here and managed here he was true grit and never say die.funniest thing about him was watching him putting on his boots always about 2 sizes to small too make sure he got max power when kicking someone. when boots were on he would kick wall to get feeling going

could go on all day with people i have the greatest respect for.

others being

tony izzi - his two uncles would always be watching him if he got fouled you couldnt stand next to them all arms and abuse, but a quality goal scorer and a great laugh. prob in hiding somewhere as murder for casinos

dave o connor- never meet a harder footballer in your live, vinnie jones loked like a softie compared to him" up and at em " was his motto

eddie o halloran, - another never say die merchant, when i watched him i was very young, but always reminded me of terry butcher in appearance and attitude

pakie kelly- no need to talk about him a legend, funniest thing i remeber of him was when on an overnight away trip, in monaghan we had beaten monaghan and went on lash, at end of night pakie was a little emotional and fell asleep on couch in reception, the lads thought it would be funny to shave off his eyebrows. that was ok until he woke in the morning and realised.
breakfast was at eight so we all arrived down one by one when we went in to dining room pakie was sitting at table facing door when you entered hed leave out a roar was it you and would interogate you, to this day he doesnt know who did it, a famous footballers brother would be prime suspect
funniest thing is he looked the head off lieutenant mauser from police academy
