Thought Come on Eileen was Come on Irene the first time I heard it
Googled Come on Irene and found a whole site dedicated to misheard lyrics (this was more than a few years back)
I just remember another example of misheard lyrics for this song was
"Muhammad Ali"

Toto Coelo song "I eat cannibals" - heard my sister in law singing it as "I eat cannon balls".
Hard to digest I'd imagine ;)

A couple of years ago I took a guy from Kerry to a Derry match in Belfield. he was just about able to deciper what the Derry fans were singing until he got to the lines,
"Flying high, up in the sky,
We'll keep the red flag flying high."
He heard them (as I do now!);
"Flying high, up in the sky,
We ate the ref last Friday night."
I had to explain that as Derry fans don't need can(niball)s.
He also heard, 'Stand up for the Candystripes,' as, 'Stand up for the Cannisters.'

In fairness, in a strong Derry accent it can indeed sound like that.
