Did any of you travel when Republic of Ireland played there? If so how big is the ground and what is away ticket allocation?

This thread should help.

Otherwise, if you do an advanced search of "slovakia" in the fans forum section you should find everything you need to know.

Yes! I was there for the Slovakia V Rep of Ireland. Ticket Allocation was 8,000only because most of the home fans did not bother to go. Slovakia where middle bottom in the group. Not the best of grounds I was ever in. Think it holds 20 to 25 K.

not to mention the major issues getting in to the ground...

Ground was empty. No problems getting tickets.

We bought tickets in the home section - main stand. No bother. Main sports in Slovakia are basketball and ice-hockey - football is not a big sport.

I wouldnt agree entirely with that ... my advice would be to go
to the game but stay in Vienna and get the train there and back.

Reports from Wales fans we met in the airport on the way home was that they enjoyed it. There was only a few hundred of them though compared to our 8,000. And it was scorching too in Bratislava on that Friday we were leaving. Celtic fans thought it was a great place too.

On the whole, I thought the place ( certainly the Old Town ) and most of the people were fine.....having blazing sunshine rather than the monsoon we endured on the Friday certainly helps!

I had a great time in Bratislava. Basically if you have a decent group with you, you will end up having a great time regardless of where you are.

Schlooomp and meself stayed in Bratislava but went to Vienna in between
games and had mad craic there. As usual we left the place with stories
that anyone who didnt know us wouldn't believe :D

We had good craic with the usual suspects from the away games in Brat but
the vibe around the place just made it uncomfortable.

too many stories of people being attacked and mugged for my liking. Police were very confrontational in the old town square before the game when there was no hint of trouble. Train journey to Prague was horrific because they rammed as many Irish fans on as possible. The locals seemed to resent the fact we wanted to give them business in bars etc, and generally i felt that cabs were dangerous. In summary, I felt like they didnt want us there and there was no football banter at all with the locals. They all had serious chips on their shoulders for some reasons. On the plus side its very cheap and the women were quality.

irish fans rammed themselves on , we were there and just went for grub and waited for the next train , carriage to ourselves , no worries at all.

bratislava is a nice little town , didnt experience any hostilities myself and if it wasnt for the sucker goal at the end it would be up there as one of my favourite trips.

Also, don't get into a taxi without agreeing a price first. Just say no. When we arrived in Bratislava we were told this but we still got into the first taxi at the airport without agreeing a price. We asked him but he pointed to the metre. We were charged 30 quid. Another time a taxi driver ripped us off. He demanded to be paid more than he should have been. A lot of shouting went on and he was about to hit one of us in the main square. We just paid him what he wanted. Either that or end up in a fight and find yourself in a cell.

Not a ver pro business pro tourist town but I had a good laugh there as we had quality apartment and cheap drink and ate in good resaurants. Getting into the ground was a bit sloppy. Not a bad spot and some great sights if you head up to the castle etc.

She was nice alright, Service wasn't great but it was a restaurant not a bar and with 2 people serving. They probably never even saw a crowd that big before.

Was that the place in the main square? Sounds like it. A beautiful waitress serving. We were the first people in there after the match and then the rest of the Irish followed. They actually told us they'd no deserts just to get us out because they could make more money by filling the table again. Could be a different resteraunt though.

The old town was an interesting place during the down, especially when the sun was out. I have never seen so many weddings in one day.

Place had an edge to it in the evening but on the whole good value.

Then there was the 1230 to Prague! Be afraid!

David we stayed in an apartment for about €50 per night between three of us. 10 mins walk from the old town. It was excellent.

Our apartment was apartment "Elegant".

I would definitely recommend it.
