With no offence to the teams involved, is this the best we could do? We are preparing for a top 6 push in the Premier Division by playing four First Division clubs? Maybe I am being picky, and if so, fair enough, I hold my hands up.

I'd expect TC to be trying out a few trialists that he may not want other premier Division managers to see.

for some starnge reason its always been the way to play teams NOT in your division (1st division vs premier division). i dont see the basis for it, so what if your going to be playing the Prem teams again, IMO it doesnt tell you the level ye'r at.... apart from Monaghan last season we took the other games with ease!.

but in fairness we have the 2 relegated Prem teams so in that respect it couldnt be better!

No game announced YET between Feb 12 and 29th.

Hopefully something will work out for us bringing someone of note to Terryland between those dates.

99% of Teams in Ireland dont play teams from their own divisions in pre season friendlies and its much the same for England unless there is a Tournament organised although usually they are one english team and three foreign teams.

You want these games to sharpen up your players and work on patterns of play and set pieces so you hardly want to play a team you will be facing in the league a couple of weeks after.

There is a gap left which hopefully will be sorted but the statement says its a provisional list so if a chance of a big team visiting comes up they will be accomodated.

problem is this time of year terryland is not always available with the galway and district league games going on the longford game for instance was to be at home but the universaty collingwood cup final is fixed for the day before most united ever get are 2/3 home pre season

What 1% do? Are you counting Longford as 1/5th of a club given the amount of players they've got left?

I was thinking that maybe this year we got smaller clubs as we are saving money to bring a premiership team over. Its just that the last 2 pre seasons involved games vrs cork ans shels(before the crap hit the fan for them) and did drogs come aswell?Would those teams have had appearance fees involved and so by not bringing them this year we are saving money for a decent english side to come in March as was promised??Or have i completely over-thought this one?

The reason we played Shels and Cork was we were in the 1st division and therefore we didnt have to play them again.El teams might look for travelling expenses but usually they dont charge anything.

I think there's a training camp planned in England for the squad around the 18th Feb for a few days so maybe that's why there's been nothin mentioned for between 12th & 29th. Their dates for it mightnt be finalised yet
