according to inthenet.ie (http://www.inthenet.ie/eircom/news.asp?head=110) FLYING Longford winger Sean Prunty is involved in a desperate race against time to be fit for the return leg of the UEFA Cup preliminary round tie against Bulgarian team Liteks Lovech.
Prunty damaged knee ligaments in the 4-1 win against Cork at Flancare Park on Sunday and looks to have no chance of being involved against UCD in the eircom Premier Division on Thursday.
He also looks like missing the trip to Bulgaria next week.
To add to boss Stephen Kenny’s problems, Eric Molloy, Prunty’s natural replacement, is also out injured. Ex-Athlone man Molloy has an ankle ligament injury.
Kenny said: "Sean is a major concern and the fact that Eric is also injured doesn’t help either. I was delighted with our win on Sunday, but it has come at a bit of a price. We will just have to wait and see how Sean is over the coming days. Hopefully, he will be back sooner rather than later. It depends on the seriousness of the injury and his rate of recovery."
Striker Keith O’ Connor is suspended for Thursday’s game at UCD and Shay Zellor and John Rogers are also uanavilable for selection.
Liteks drew 1-1 at Slavia Sofia in the Bulgarian League at the weekend.
