He basically spoke about keeping players, looking for recognized EL players to strengthen squad.
Faz going nowhere for less than €100k.
Seamie Coleman going nowhere unless someone comes in with big money.
Cookie sent Seamie to Burnley to gain experience.
Club has little money.
Trying to bring Burns back.
Club needs a Chief Executive.
The three teams the Club will have to field will make things difficult.
Next season gonna be very tough.
This is a SYNOPSIS.....

Faz going nowhere for less than €100k.
Club has little money.Sort of contradictory isn't it.
Drogs will not bid anywhere near €100k. From what I believe there will be one more slightly increased bid and then that's it. Otherwise we'll watch him this season and take him for nothing next year. He's a good player but not better than Cahill or Baker and a long way off Shane Barrett who came for €50K.
Mind you I like Cook - comes across very well

From what I have seen of Cahill over the past couple of seasons Faz is light years ahead of him and much younger than him.
There is no contradition here. to let Faz go for less than €110k would be madness, regardless of how badly we need the cash.
Otherwise we'll watch him this season and take him for nothing next year.
Its amazing how quick arrogance can develope in a club who have just won their first ever league title. If Faz continues to improve at the rate he has done under Paul Cook he will go to an English club for a lot more than €100k in the summer.

Here is part of a Willie McStay interview (http://www.esnips.com/doc/a5dfa6f0-ef5c-4640-8dce-61d50c2fb286/Wille-McStay---Ocean-FM-interview) which was on just before Cooke.

With 6 months remaining on his contract i somehow doubt it

Not arrogance at all, just saying it as it is. Cook and Sligo are living in cuckoo land if they think he will go for €100K. If he is still a Sligo player in March he will go nowhere for a fee.

Opened link no problem.Great to hear cookeys honesty, defintely from the old school of management believing the players and supporters are the most inportant aspect of the club as the great Shankly said "Theres a holy trinity in football, the team, the supporetrs and management, directors are only ther to sign cheques"

Good stuff from Paul , Cookies not too happy with Faz , but its good that he wants to keep improving the squad , the idea of getting players on longer contracts.

Who's to say he'll want to be playing in the lowly Eircom League next season?

Thanks Darco. You are a "Technical" genius.
Excellent interview. It is great the way Cookie gives a straight answer to a question and has a nice sense of humour when required. I also liked his attitude to "The Faz situation" and also to Seamie Coleman going on "trial"

Interesting too to hear what he says about Curran and Foy having to prove themselves, imo they are 2 players that have to do exactly that, love Cook's honesty!!
