10 out of a possible 15 leaves Ireland joint top with Bulgaria. Italy 1 point further back with a game in hand.

Ireland results

Montegro 0, Ireland 1
Cyprus 0, Ireland 1
Ireland 1, Italy 1
Bulgaria 0, Ireland 0
Ireland 2, Georgia 1

New manager Roy Hodgson has instilled a steely determination into this Irish side. Ireland are now playing well as a unit and each player fully understands his role in the team. The new captain Richard Dunne is leading by example and Ireland have become a "stingy" team at the back.

Anyway heres hoping!

In fairness that is achievable albeit really hopeful. I don't know if you'll come away from both Montenegro and Cyprus with 6 points, to be honest, but I could see the rest happening.

What? Go to sides with less ability than our u21 sides and BEAT them? MADNESS!

Ah yes, we've never had difficulty beating Cyprus anyway

This day next year...

...the 3-man selection committee finalise the criteria by which they will make a decision regarding the correct colour of paper on which applicants for the position of manager of the national side should submit their resumes.

Rumour has it white will be chosen.

I personally think Cyprus would hammer your under 21s, certainly in Cyprus. I should remind you that apart from us and the Czechs they were the only team who took any points from Germany in the last group. And I would also remind you of your record against them in Cyprus. It's not great.

I can't speak for Montenegro having never seen them play but you'd expect them to be half decent given they are a reasonable sized country. So I think they will also cause you problems.

They have a population of 750,000, but they have produced players of the calibre of Dejan Savijevic and Predrag Mijatovic in the past. Mirko Vucinic , their striker, is a regular for AS Roma. Dismiss them at your peril! I know they will cause Ireland problems.
If we play like in the previous group under Stan we would lose to them away........ guaranteed!

Does that make clearer coloured smoke? :D

Although your point still stands.

I have a feeling Wales might come good this WC. Not sure if you'll qualify but you have the makings of a good side with Bale, Koumas, Hennessy.

Well, I think 3rd place looks realistic. We can finnish (awful pun I know) above the boys formerly managed by Roy Hodgson, I think.

Anything more than that would be a wonderful bonus, even if we didn't make it to the finals.
