Ask some of the lads on the Fans Forum who were there for the WC Playoffs.

I am looking to go there in March / April. I know people who've been, it's actually a very safe place to visit. One thing to bear in mind is, outside of Tehran, there is a cronic lack of cashpoints and travellers cheques are useless. So if you want to go to Persepolis (anchient ruins) then you need to plan well in advance.

You could find it uncomfortably hot in the middle of the summer, also if you have a second passport go on that - basically avoid going to the US subsequently on the same passport or you will get the full glove treatment.

cheers for the advice, had heard its a good place to vist, read an article in the guardian travel section a while ago from female journalist who took a trip there, she said that it was a really friendly place and that she rarely had to pay for dinner because she had been invited to the homes of most of the people she met there

Would Iranians have a friendly or a hostile attitude towards the Irish?

Brother was there for college trip & said very friendly although officials a bit paranoid. He does not recommend for women.
