First heard this in the opening credits for a Gaelic music programme on BBC iPlayer a while back and think it's the absolute business:

Also this one, the band recommended a good while ago, on here I'm sure. Got their current album a while back, it's nearly worn out now.

Probably me. Waxing lyrical about them since I got In Evening Air in 2010. If you look at the original Music thread in the Music section there's some serious recommendations in there.

And now time to destroy any shred of musical credibility I had left after exposing my Eagles fandom.

Ha ok I owe Bonnie a like then
Downloaded both their last two albums, have to say i was listening to them on repeat all week............

What you guys make of Sleaford Mods, hopefully will be seeing them in Amsterdam in Oct, despite them coming to Swiz soon but otherwise engaged (FAI cup weekend!)
I think they are a breath of fresh air, or at least for the over 35 year olds thick bast**d market, which is about 3/4 of their fan base!

Not bad Bennocelt, needed a second listen if honest, but the tune is a grower. Bit of Fall in there, bit of Streets, or Dan le Sac/Scroobius Pip maybe, a John Cooper Clarke thing going on also for those of us old enough. Worth checking out a couple more tunes if nothing else.
Don't know if I'd fancy seeing them live mind you, might get a bit tasty, sounds like they'd appeal to those over 35s who still have anger issues! Having said that, am getting to that age now that there's not many bands I'd go to the bother of seeing live, curmudgeon that I am these days.

Tried to get the album in Liffey Valley HMV today, but out of stock, so youtube will have to do until I get it. BTW, do you know they're playing at The Beatyard this Sunday, Bonnie? http://www.the-beatyard.com/#lineup

I do indeed. And despite the guestlist possibilities I will be in Croke Park watching my county beat my ancestral seat.

Without a shadow of a doubt this is the best thing I have heard this year.

Been on repeat for weeks and weeks. It's defo one of those songs that makes you appreciate that music exists. Undeniably amazing.

One of the most surreal things you'll ever hear. Chipmunks slowed down to a speed where the vocal sounds like a normal human voice, and it's bloody brilliant. It's like real slude/doom sort of stuff.

New Grimes album "Art Angels" is out of this world.

"Flesh Without Blood", "World Princess Part II" (Your move tay-tay), "Butterfly" and "Realiti" (Demo version is way better than album version) are wonderful.

But.., "Kill v Maim" has completely ruined music for me this year now.

First play through of the new Kings of Leon album. On first listen, this is a really excellent album that I think can really grow on me further. They've taken another direction again and it feels much more of a late 70's - early 80's influence with some good rocky songs on it and a few synth based songs there too.

Worth a listen.

Been listening to the James best of recently. Some great tracks, especially Laid and Sometimes. Sit Down is obviously their classic... I love this verse..

"Now I've swung back down again
It's worse than it was before
If I hadn't seen such riches
I could live with being poor"

Yet to check out the album, but would concur with Nigel above, was impressed with KoL's new direction on Jools a couple of weeks back.
New(ish) acts tickling the fancy at present include the rather brilliant Wolf Alice:

Wow. Ive been all over James' stuff for the last year or so - to the extent that he probably has a host of new Canadian fans! - after being a fan back in the 90s. And the verse you quoted is the one that resonates with me too - class songwriting. Laid is still my favourite song though.

Grace Slicks vocal only from the studio version, making the hair on my neck stand up all week. Takes 30 seconds or so before she cuts in. Kinda worth the wait this one though, IMO.
