liked the chap..he was jus too quiet. anytime he spoke to the press, the conversation was over after 10 seconds like..and too quiet on the sidelines. luck went against him when he was wit us. no hard feeling towards him tbh.

I said this at the time you were bottom of the League under Mike and I say it again now.
You were far from being the worst team to visit Belfield that season and he had the team playing attractive football. With a stronger squad than 2004, Limerick 37 vintage 2008 could be a very attractive team to watch in next season's league. Good luck to ye, the League needs a strong club on Shannonside

I dont want to laugh at ye but I cant help it lol, the man is a complete joke results dont lie. He had one player signed with a month to go in the season and proceded to assemble the worst squad in the history of waterford united i bet he wont last the season hes a joke

That's the big plus point with Mike as far as I'm concerned.
We wont be near challenging for promotion this year but once the football is pretty I'll be happy enough and more importantly the crowds will stay to some extent

Well seeing as Gareth assembled a team for the 1st Division last season and was bumped into the premier with a week to go and still improved on the points total from the season by 250% from a squad that was assembled by mike for the premier, also alot of those points in the first season were gotten by Gareth after mikes DYSMAL tenure, i dont wanna see you fail but with a complete loser like Mike Kerley in charge im afraid you are in deep doo doo

Yep, Gareth Cronin, born winner.
Out of curiosity what kind of a budget did Mike have to assemble this Premier team??
I would have thought twelve to fifteen grand a week minimum to have any chance of staying up at all??

Negative negative whinge, blah blah whinge
Anyway Kerley will get the team playing on the ground football, which is preferable to The Butcher and Ski's brand of football. We won't finish any higher than mid table this season anyway, so getting us playing decent football is a way of attracting people into the ground and keeping them there, so I say it's a good appointment

You're havin' a laugh, aren't you? The only reason the fickle sporting public from Limerick will ever support senior soccer in the city again is with success. Pretty football isn't going to bring them to the jacks every fortnight.
Success, and a home draw with Shamrock Rovers in the FAI Cup...

By crowds I meant you may have 300 to 350 dieshards as opposed to 200 to 250 if it was ugly.
I know people who didn't follow Limerick when O'Connor was there the second time because of the football.
Obviously to get proper good crowds we would have to be successful but that's not going to happen this year.

When Waterford finish ahead of Limerick this season maybe it will be because they have a much bigger budjet and a much better squad rather than Cronin being a genius and Kerley being rubbish ;)

quite obviously i,m not a fan of mike kerley, but i do wish him the very best now he has been appointed, given he has pro licence..almost,and hopefully gained more experience over the last few years, and given his very positive interview on the LEADER i,m expecting big things....first thing will be his signings, and given his past record in this regard i await these with interest

Sorry, you did get relegated yes??
My point is people with crap managers shouldn't throw stones.
Your point about degrees of crapness is fair enough but you seem to be forgetting we're in the basement, things work differently down here.
You're convinced Mike Kerley will be a disaster managing Limerick in the First Division based on half a season of watching him manage Waterford in the Premier.
I don't think he will be based on two seasons of watching him manage Limerick in the First Division.
Notice any difference there??
Do you want me to draw you a picture??
You're just like all the goons on your own forum who gave out stink about signing Kevin Waters

I like kevin waters as a player, kerley is in a fortunate position as players like purcell and finucane will never move from limerick so he has a solid base to work from , but he has no eye for a player and i could name many duds. Yes we did get relegated but a big factor was our squad which was prepared for the 1st division last season

Lots of rumours around Purcell.........

I fully agree with you.
Some of the signings he made for Waterford are the stuff of legend up around here. :D
BUT:
It now looks like he will largely inherit the squad we had last year minus Blondie, Colbert, Finny, Buckley and maybe one or two more.
While we are never going to challenge for the title that is still a fairly decent squad at this level.
Therefore I think he'll do a fairly decent job.
Depending on who actually ends up in the squad anything from fourth to seventh is acceptable next season.

Ten grand a week WTF? Last season our entire budget for players, backroom and administration staff was 5k a week, when Kerley got the job it was a good bit lower, and by the time he got the job any decent players were already signed to other clubs.
We were unlucky in alot of matches during his reign, but that's life. In the end he had to go as his position had become unreversible. Don't forget he has brought Limerick FC to the playoffs and a league cup semi, on a tiny budget even by First Division standards.

I'm a far better writer than gael :)
so its ok for us to accept anything between 4th and 7th next season because MK is in charge and there is
No.
It's ok because if you look around at what's happening in the close season in the league it's clear that Waterford, Dundalk and Shelbourne are going to be lightyears ahead of us both squad wise and budget wise.
So at this stage to expect to finish ahead of that trio would be unfair*
*Could happen who knows, look at the way the division panned out this year :)
christ the turntiles will be spinning
A turnstile hasn't spun in Limerick in 25 years - FACT
Look I'm no huge Mike Kerley apologist.
Many would argue that the team he had in the first season was better than clinching fourth on the final day and getting hammered in Derry.
I just think that given our current circumstances he is the best candidate for the job and that if his squad can remain largely together he'll do ok.

Or that I even know teenagers?
It's very well known that Cronin has a slightly bigger budget, it's on a few different forums and was in one of the programs from late 06/early 07. I know more but I certainly don't go gossiping around club news and throwing it up on the internet like some.
I never said Kerley was a decent manager for us, rather I said the man was unlucky and had little to work with. Anyone would tell you that.
