Can I claim the dole if I'm simply awaiting placement in a job?
I've been told that I will be placed in the coming months, probably February, March at the latest.

I'm quitting the current job Christmas Eve to finish/do my masters thesis in the month or two(ssssh!).
I thought I might have trouble with them saying I voluntarily left my workplace.
I offered to work weekends but I'm being replaced by a full-timer so don't think I'll be required.

I've read this (http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/social-welfare/social-welfare-payments/unemployed-people/unemployment_benefit) but could I get around the
"Left work voluntarily and without a reasonable cause" nine week thingy and would the fact I'm awaiting work help or hinder me?

I know for a fact that its been done, and in very glaring circumstances if you know what i mean. I dont know what was said or how he got around it though.

If you get on well with your ex-employer he/she may write a letter stating there is no position for you in the company, and you are not leaving voluntarily.
