Monaghan United FC are delighted to confirm that they have picked up the signature of talented local James Hand. Hand comes to Mons following a short spell at Dundalk whom he signed for on his return from Huddersfield Town. The Magheracloone man is able to play at left-back or on the left side of midfield and will help Mick strengthen his defence which is crucial with the loss of Luke Fitzpatrick to Waterford.

The former Republic of Ireland Under 21 player will be familiar with the set up at Monaghan United having spent time there prior to his move to Belvedere which led him to Huddersfield Town. Huddersfield released James in the Summer due to financial constraints and Dundalk quickly snapped up the young player but Gill released him at the end of the season leaving the way open for Hand to return to United.

This is a great signing for United if Cooke can work the same magic he did on Keith Foy we will have a very talented young local lad playing for us next season.

Might have a problem with the rest of the team not understanding his accent though. :p

Nah you could never get rid of that north Cavan type accent, 20 years in deepest yorkshire still wouldnt be enough. :)
