Sure Stan was a boooosshhh, a gaffer and half a world class manager all at the same time.

How did this fella get away with it for so long...Ireland is not that big that people would not be familar with who is working in other institutions in similar fields!

plenty of the people I work with had him in AIT and I was in NUI, we all knew about it, dunno how the colleges let it go for so long though!

Fair play to him....for EIGHT years he must have been providing adequate performance at both sites.

What did he do in his spare time?

ya, to be honest lecturers have so few hours in some fields that they can get away with it no hassle

we had a lecturer in dcu, murphy, who was also lecturing in trinity!

He taught a lad I work with for about 5 years and
only turned up about 20% of the time apparently!

One of my lecturers had a nice little earner on the side doing freelance Y2K checking and Word and Excel VBA programs.

There's a line in that article which tickled me far more than the story:

He served as dead of department on two occasions in Galway during that time.
Of course, in Hugh Brady's modernised UCD, we have School Zombies instead of dead of department.

Well lecturing only takes up a certain amount of time, he was supposed to be doing full time research around this, which obviously he wasnt.
