From The Examiner "An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern was represented by his aide de camp Captain Michael Treacy"
Surely there is protocol for the Taoiseach either going or being represented officially to such an event.
I can't really see how the late Ms French would "qualify" (or want of a better word) for such a presence. If Bertie knew her personally he should have gone himself or send personal card if he couldn't go.
I really don't think such an official presence is appropriate to be honest.
PS - BTW the speculation about the causes of Ms French's death have nothing to do with my opinion.
