Nice to see the 1982 team honoured last Sunday at the Cup Final. Some of the guys haven't changed a bit.

It was a shame that some of the squad members appear to have not been invited though. John Power was reserve goalkeeper to Kevin Fitzpatrick and played a few games that season and should have received an invite. John Minnock and Mickey McDonnell were both in the squad too that season. I believe neither were invited. It was also a shame that nobody from the late Tony Meaney's family were there.

There really should have been better checking by whoever invited the squad too as centre stage was taken by Mick O'Donnell who was no longer in the squad in 1982. I believe at least one paper included a photo of him naming him as the goalkeeper in the side. He also received a league medal a couple of years back when they were eventually awarded to the team despite not playing a single minute of football for Limerick in the league winning season.

Fitzy retired aftet the Cup final after 22 years service to the club and being the unassuming type wouldn't make a fuss but the papers should really get it right.

Wouldnt know anything about the team assuch, but having it at half time was a joke! Stadium cleared out as everyone was freezing or wet and went for some warmth of anything. Would have had it 15 mins before kick off but that would meen opening the gates and letting everyone into the ground on time

Ah the original and best spoofer to be involved with Limerick football-'Muckles'. A hanger-on if ever there was one. Wembley was his level, and I don't mean the hallowed turf either.I remember him swanning around the town as if he was Peter Shilton at the time. An arrogant tool if ever I saw one. How he could be allowed hi-jack the proceedings last Sunday was a disgrace.

He wasn't even in the squad in 1982 as far as I can remember. Kevin Fitzpatrick was the keeper and that prat played a handful of games in the late 70's. I hope he's duly embarrassed, but I doubt it.

He didn't play in any games in the league winning season. How do you think we won it? :D

He was gone by the Cup win in 1982 with John Power taking over as reserve keeper. John was a decent keeper and took over when Fitzy retired. He moved to England a couple of years later but is back living in Limerick I believe.

Muckles played a handful of games in the 70's. I very much doubt if he played 10 games for the club in total.
