I thought Mr. Hyland deserves a thread all to himself as more people will read this than his 'newspaper' column. Only buy it on a Tuesday for the DDSL fixtures. Actually I dont buy it as I actually don't pay for it. I digress.

What a sad vindictive little man. Slated on here so he has a go in a national 'newspaper'.

Well Paul, if you're tuning in, I have met Tel Boy (and his sidekick Mickey Pearse, sorry Eric 'monster' Hall) at Wembley in May 1994 after I witnessed the worst international match in my life. Norway, 0-0, both teams lucky to get nil. Tel Boy was manager (sorry 'coach', he wasnt allowed to be manager in case he half-inched the petty cash) and he couldnt win a game with players the calibre of Adams, Pallister, Ince, Shearer, Beardsley, Anderton, Platt and Gazza. The only impression the Dagenham Duo left on me was the colour of Mickey Pearse's suit.

So Paul, if Tel Boy gets the job managing our beloved national football team and it all goes 'Pete Tong', we will all remind you of where you stood on the issue.

Forum, as we are now known in Herald House as the Messageboard Mujahideen, I now wish to be called Muhammed Akbar Al-Herald.

PS Mr. Hyland, please note the spelling of Mujahideen.

Sir, you are a credit to your profession.

Ya I read the article.

Hes some ignorant gob sh!te. He did really take a dig at everyone on here, the so called "fevered imaginings of the message board mujahadeen and young hacks with fine ideals but little grasp of the real world" after earlier asoociatinf foot.ie with the Anti EL TEL corner.

Good luck you muppet

Obviously also having a go against Daniel McDonnell who knows far more about football than Hyland will ever know.

Sounds like he was having a pop at young Daniel McDonnell. I hope he rises to the bait and responds. The less the pro-Venables camp is prepared to debate the issue and the more they argue ad hominem the more credibility they lose.

Hyland uses the same trick whenever he's totally wrong about any of his hobby horses. Instead of saying I was wrong, he uses phrases like 'we were all wrong about so and so', or 'the Irish soccer fan won't like so and so as a manager(when he's really giving his own anti whoever opinion, in case his opinion turns out rubbish). Clown

Ah feck Hyland, gob****e, traditional media outlets like papers and TV stations are loosing their power and relelence and viewing figures to web forums, blogs and youtube etc and its going to happen more and more so he better get used to it and get ready for his retirement, feckin eijet!

bhs

ps. he's prob only pushing venables coz hes afraid his old foe Souness might get it!

Every day, I aspire to doing something that Paul Hyland disagrees with, as it will mean I am on the correct path in life.

The silly old fart is lost since Lou Grant was taken off the air, and is reduced to comparing anyone with a differing viewpoint to his as "Messageboard Mujahideen" .

(Ironically, considering that we are normal people vainly trying to be heard over the din of sub-par journos thumping tubs and shaking their pom poms for Venables, Mujahideen directly translates as "strugglers" and does probably not have the derogatory connotations that Mr Hyland imagined when he initially sourced it in his legendary treasure trove of rapier wit, the tabloid thesaurus of Alliterative insults.)

The big, blustering buffoon.

The Evening Herald is anti Eircom League of Ireland in it's whole view point.Play a game the night before they issue , they print a small piece on it. Have one or two thugs knock lumps out of each other at the game... FRONT PAGE NEWS. I know they occasionally print something slightly positive by Aidan Fitzmaurice, but check out a Friday evening when our League is up and running. YOu will be hard pressed to know which country you are living in , if you read the sports pages . Acres of English Premier League, bugger all about the League on their own doorstep pro rata. Hyland like almost all the lazy hacks in Independent House, (the only thing remotely Northside about that outfit is the location of their office) hasn't heard of anyone in football who hasn't left a carbon footprint on the island of GB and therefore ignorance is bliss, they just don't figure on the radar as candidates of our managerial vacancy. It would be interesting to know if anyone saw any of the Independent group reporters considering Fabio Capello, Marcello Lippi, Bora Mulutinovic or Javier Clemente for the Ireland job. Probably not because none of them worked in the Premiershi*/English Premier League, therefore despite their many achievements in the game they just are not considered. I hope the Abbotstown based Mandarins of the game do not have the same ignorant blinkered outlook.

Here's a chance to be better than a bunch of apprentice alco's FAI don't blow it!

And lest we forget Danny came from our ranks - I remember him contributing hugely to the old Johnny Ward eL forum.

Met him many a time through that particular forum - last bumped into him in a nightclub in Estonia where he was over covering the Levadia vs. Bohs match (the second installment).

I've a lot of time for the fella - as pleasant a bloke you'd ever wish to meet.

As for Hyland - go and disappear up your own hole you Robert Maxwell Hole-Licking, No Scruples, THE TRUTH, Fleet Street Hack.

And you can happily quote me for truth on that...

stutts, have you been doing a night course the last couple of months as I am seeing obscure words popping into your posts more and more.A pal of mine was in a nightclub in Liverpool and was chatting up some local scouse lass. He dropped in some everyday latin phrase like "ad infinitum" or something like that and got met with a tirade (scouse accent essential) along the lines of "you're some tw.at, you think you're all smart and intellectual just cos you can speak latin", to which my mate replied something like" if that's what makes one a tw.at then mea culpa". I thought it was funny.

Ad hominem = attacking the poster not the post. Very interesting part of the first year logic course at UCD. I've been looking to buy Fr. Bastable's book for nearly 20 years now, but can't find it.

Never met him but his articles are streets ahead of his predecessor's and you can sense a genuine enthusiasm for all thinks Irish football related. Good on him.

He posts here too (I won't give his name).

He is still a poor enough journalist (writing style etc) but he already knows far far more about "real life" football than Hyland does. McDonnell also has a refreshing lack of ego. His writing style will improve no doubt. Hyland's ego probably won't

Nice to know Hyland reads this Board though. We can now be sure he knows the high esteem in which he is generally held. (That's sarcasm btw Paul:p) Yourself and Cathal Dervan are the worst football "journalists" in Ireland, by a country mile.

Someone should create a thread listing where all our "journos" favouritisms lie with regards to the appointment of the new manager. I'm sure it'll make interesting reading in a couple of years time when Venables gets found out.....AGAIN.
