View Full Version : Dessie Baker
linked with Galway and Rovers according to todays Sun. Good player but very injury prone so he would want to be checked out. He is still only 30 which surprised me.

Yeah I'd be a bit worried about that too, he only played 16 league games scoring 2 goals this season according to walk the chalk. Definitely a talented player though.

What I seen of him this season is that he looked over weight .:o

Thought he flattered to deceive for the last few seasons - would prefer we left him to one of the metropolitans.

Leave him join Rovers, for many years GUFC acted as a retirement home for players like Baker, probably the most passed-it player in the league, thanks but no thanks.

If thats the kind of players that we are aimin to sign then forget it! Seriously overrated player. Murph is much better! Any quality strikers out there available who would be interested in joining us? Any names floating about?

this move seems to be stalled.from what i heard 2 weeks ago it was set to be completed then.it was from the same source that i heard we are getting a shamrock rvs striker but nothing has happened there either.i wonder could that be myler?anyway neither looks like happening, perhaps ill ask that qs tonight.

he lives in Laois so i can't see him doing all that traveling to galway
Leech hasnt stalled it wont be announced til mid january as far as I know.Baker is still only 30 so its not a retirement home he is looking for.A very good player but injury prone which puts a question mark over him. Symbio murphs hasnt performed since he came back from Derry 2 years ago!!

He's be worth a punt by any team. Mooney only really started to score when he came back from injury. He won;t score too many himself but he;s clever and brings other players into the game. Being honest, he is carrying a pound or three but he'd be a useful squad player.

Dessie is still a great player but not if your lookin for someone to turn out week in week out, he has always been injury prone I don't ever remember him playin a full season even for Shels.
