where did u hear sonic?is it definite?
Its definate, he stepped down. Heard it on local radio and they made a big deal about budgets and the likes, leads me to think that was the deal breaker!

I would have thought he might stay on. he is 19 so a season or two in the first would not do him any harm.

I agree and I would hope that he may stay. He played for Kilkenny last year and his biggest criticism was he wasn't consistent enough so he's obviously come on a lot at Longford.
Given his honesty as a player I would hold out some hope that he'd give us a season. It's not like time is running out for him.

kelly and sullivan to ucd.
What say what now?
Who's Kelly? Please tell me he's a 15-goal-a-season striker!!

Yeah, because the bottom of the table team just happened to have two of them! :p I would imagine it's 'keeper Shay Kelly?

Oh. That's strange. Don't see us signing him unless either Quigley or Gregg are on their way, and I don't think either are.

He lectures in UCD so it could just be a simbiotic move. UCD have a third keeper and Kelly's closer to work.

But sure we all know UCD players retire out in Bray these days, and you've just released your keeper. ;)

We really are in trouble now with all these players and manager gone
I doubt kelly will go to UCD for pineapple stus above reasons bray most likely destination! Anyway Kelly lectures in Dit i see him around pretty regularly. If he does go maybe we could move for Steve Williams not brilliant but more than good enough for the first. We really must start signing players for next season with so many leaving or we will be left with scraps. That all starts with getting a new manager of course!!

Freeman to Shels? Is that definite? Nice of him to take his wages all year including the three weeks at the end then not turn up for the cup final, taking his suit and final week's wages etc. Bad form

Is that true? If it is then **** him.
Longfordian
15/12/2007, 1:40 PM
Yep it is true. Footballers tend to look after number one first and foremost. Clubs and suppoorters are grand while they're there but dont mean an awful lot to most as far as I can see.

Any idea where he was instead of being at the RDS?
Longfordian
15/12/2007, 2:22 PM
Didnt hear. Dont think he bothered to explain it. He was supposed to be staying in the hotel with the squad and being part of the preparations but was a no show on the Saturday night and nobody heard from him after that

15/12/2007, 3:22 PM
if he didn't perform his duties as a contracted player, why was he paid ???
Longfordian
15/12/2007, 3:37 PM
Paid all year because the club were decent to him.He never told anybody he was going to America if that's where he was. Alan Mathews told the club after the cup final that Freeman went AWOL. He never heard from him at all

can this be reported to the FAi or players union.
Rocky77
15/12/2007, 3:43 PM
Not sure that can be done. It's common practice to release a player form his contract but Freeman's contract is up so it'll be a case of everyone move on and forget it, I'd say.
It just shows you the mans lack of decency towards his fellow players fans and club aside you would think he would be there to give his teamates support. Anyway we will move on we dont need to be bothered with that sort of sh1te more important things to worry about!

I heard one of Mathews epithets was "all players are *****", and with every year that passes I see how right he is about that.
Me feiners, all of them.

15/12/2007, 4:37 PM
No you're absolutely right, we won't be forgetting it any time soon. I meant to forget it professionally and not waste time and money following it up.
He'll know we haven't forgotten if he's back as an away player at the Flansiro next season.

absolutely disgusted with freemans conduct.. explains why there was no sign of freeman at the cup final... after what the club did for him last season... the mans a gob****e for whats hes done.. he deserves stick of the highest order next season...you would think the man would have the decency to stick around for the cup final... :o

Precisely never rated him. Our small squad was the ONLY reason he was a loss for us last season not because he was a good player!

Agree totally Sonic.Back in 03/04 Freeman wouldn't have even made the bench!
Good luck to him finding a club with that sort of conduct. One of the fundamental attributes that any good manager should look for in a player is loyalty.Alright Paisley loyalty wasn't exactly to the fore but @ least he is a decent player and was snapped up but Freeman has neither loyalty or much talent.
When he returns to Flancare (prob as a leinster senior player in the 2nd round cup tie) The language will be colorful for sure!
