Another one of Keely's great signings for Derry?!? And I see Keely has signed him again.

He was, though, immortalised in song:

To the tune of Lisdoonvarna......

"Oh Robbie Hedderman, Robbie, Robbie, Robbie, Robbie Hedderman"

I seem to remember Fran Carter had a huge number of clubs- I know he was briefly at Harps in the mid to late 90's. Anyone remember the other clubs he was at?
Galway for two spells anyway.

Wasn't Mark Rutherford at Shamrock Rovers as well for a while?
Was thinking that.

Hedderman must be one of the worst players I've ever seen play for Waterford United. Can't understand why Shels have bought him.Clubs seem to like signing useless journeymen players rather than taking a chance on a young player or junior league player.

Wouldn't have won the league without him 2001.

He was always a great talent at queens. Think it was us who brought him up form non-league english football. Cracking talent but he ****ed it up against the wall at Queens in the end. Got hacked off and eventually left...

I wonder if there are any other players who have played for both Queens and Bohs?!

No idea, get your hands on the double winning video from 2001 and you'll see what an impact he made when he signed mid-season from Harps. It was our mid-season signings that made all the difference for us that year, himself and Mark Rutherford.

Quality player, total tosser though!

That's exactly the memory queens fans have of him too! I've been meaning to buy that DVD in the shop for a while.

I think he had a total of 3 spells with Galway and was a year or 2 at kilkenny also.

Robert Forde was interviewed once in the Shamrock Rovers match programme where he said "I will never play for Galway United again". He later rejoined Galway United. Twice.

He played for:
Boston University
Galway United
Athone Town
Monaghan United
Kilkenny City
Shamrock Rovers

Jumbo Brennan played for:
Galway United
Dundalk
Shamrock Rovers
Sligo Rovers
Did he have a stint with Athlone?

Ryan Casey is/was employed by Athlone Town ... his performances
would barely constitute playing.

Robbie Forde is shocking. Fantastic shot stopper but only when the
ball is hit straight at him and he cant get out of the way in time.
We nicknamed him "The Ostrich" cos he was large and flightless!

Dont remember Jumbo playing for us.

Could also add Davy Byrne
- Shels
- Derry
- Longford
- Athlone * (see Ryan Casey comment)

The ultimate EL journey man has to be Paul Newe, a tricky winger, who during the 80's appeared to be playing for a different club each week. Another journey manI recall was the striker Mark Ennis who got a big money transfer to Derry City where his career fell apart.

Good at pushing ball boys though.

Funniest thing ever. He got a lot of abuse from the shed that day!

I saw someone mentioning Showaddy Roddy earlier.

He actually finished his playing career with St Francis.

I remembering seeing a piece on Trevor Benjamin being the ultimate journeyman in English football. He's only 28 and is playing with his 16th club!!!

Philly Hughes - Shelbourne will be his 9th League of Ireland club.

What constitutes a journeyman exactly, how many clubs like? Would Eric Lavine/Wesley Charles qualify?

They are the perfected example of journeymen, the far side of the pond to Ireland is a fair aul' distance :D
