Roddy Collins - Unemployable? Will this guy ever get a job managing in Ireland again? Looking very doubtful to say the least.

Wouldnt be surprised if he was resurrected as Director of Football or coach of Sporting Fingal.

After all it's going to be football club run by a local authority so they're exempt from logical thinking.

For a man whose opinion carries no weight at all within eircom league circles its amazing how much medie work this clown gets, suppose its all good copy.He never mentions a player without starting
(a) When I had him at Carlisle or Bohs - pick either
(b) Had a look at signing him before and didnt really rate him
(c) When I was at ..................... i was offered the chance to sign him but (insert horse**** )

A former player of Roddys mentioned to me that he applied for the managers job at Athlone

Did anybody apply for the Job with Kilkenny City FC a few weeks back!!!! Send Roddy down to Buckley Park, see how he gets on with the lowest budget in the EL!!! That would be fun

Well now that is a challenge. Why don;t they do an Underdogs style TV programme? Call it Undercats and see how you can manage Kilkenny City, with players on 3.50 Euro a week wages:D

He's training some team a couple of times a week in a boxing gym on behalf of some club I read somewhere. It's non-League so it doesn't matter who :D

I don't normally take major dislikes to people but I really and truly can't stomach Roddy Collins.

Apart from the fact that he knows next to nothing about football, the man has the personality of a plank of wood. How he ever got employment as
(a) a football manager and
(b) a football pundit/tv presenter
absolutely beggars belief.

When Finn Harps were interviewing prospective managers a few years ago, Roddy came in and said "If you get me a million quid I'll get you out of the First Division in the first year and into the Champions League by the third year". NEXT!

Another manager, who managed in the Irish League and will remain nameless asked how much was there to bring in players. He was told there was next to nothing, that there was about 10K for signing-on fees and that was about it. He asked them that if he built the team for 8K could he keep the other 2!! :D

We met him on the train on the way back from Cork and he was telling us he was interested in the Athlone job. Also mentioned an interest in Dundalk if the job became vacant.

Roddy Collins, there is a list of words to describe this man, football and manager do not feature on that list.

Guys - even the brightest sun eventually fades. And Roddy was never the brightest son....

Sadly there is a dearth of media-friendly EL pundits. Eventually that will change and he'll just fade away...

I've just remembered, at 4:30am , that it's FAI Cup Final day tomorow. Happy daze..... :)

 thats because he left the team he was managing to manage the team they were battling relegation with. Only in League of Ireland could that happen.

Well as for Roddy never being relegated the Stats may well say that, but ask anyone at Belfield who was responsible for UCD going down in 2003 and we all say Doolin even though he jumped ship in game 21. We had picked up so few points in the first 21 games that even a miraculous turnaround under Pete Mahon where on form we were the 4th best team over the last section of the season was unfortunately not enough to save us!

Think he might have been angling for the Cork job with some of things he said on TV today.

The man is beneath contempt.

That would be him. He is always at it, especially if a team or manager is under pressure.

not for the want of trying....re carlisle and Rovers

football is the kind of game that eventually any manager will win at least something once in their career if they stick at it over a long period.........unfortunately

Of all the managerial crimes he committed, his despicable behaviour at Rovers is what's really keeping him out of work at the moment. His failure to train the players throughout the season and his blatant disregard for the future of the club won't be forgoten any time soon by Chairmen all over Ireland. If he's capable of that he's capable of anything.

I suspect that particular name is very very obvious to anyone who knows anything about the iL. Where is he now anyhow?
