Monaghan United 1-1 Cobh Ramblers
Monaghan United enjoyed an eventful evening at Century Homes Park as they scored the only two goals of the game, were awarded two penalties, ended up playing against ten men and somehow still only managed to draw with Cobh.

The home side should have went ahead on 15 minutes but Trevor Vaughan was unable to beat the impressive Phil Harrington from the penalty spot and things turned from bad to worse for the home side in the second half.

Monaghan ‘keeper Danny O’Leary fired the ball against Stephen Gifford who was helpless as the ball rebounded off him into his own net with just 20 minutes left on the clock to give the visitors the advantage.

With six minutes left, Cobh’s Anthony Buckley was sent off for handling the ball on the line and Monaghan were awarded their second penalty of the night. This time Vaughan was more successful and the sides finished deadlocked at the final whistle.
