2 horse race, every year for last 10 years!!
its still the poor relation in all colleges where camogie, gaelic, b-ball and sometimes hockey are higher priority female sports.

sligo have won last 3/4 leagues,so a new face would be nice, but in lots of the games, there are cricket scores which indicates poor standard.

my sis plays for dcu,not much happening there.

on the plus point,it is our only womens national league, albeit not a club comp with students only, but the wscai covers the country, colleges and it's,so thats a great plus point.

is there still a combined colleges/inter pro comp??

Its improving tho alot of strong teams in the league this year.....no real easy game!!!!

DCU brought in the scholarship program.....did that give them any extra players???

Yep interpros still on every year! Intervarsities is main competition i think at this stage. Alot of rivalry going on and alot of pride to be restored!

UL won fresher's the weekend beating CSN of Cork 3-0!Heard UL were in a different league and this should stand to them for the double of league and intervarsities!!!

not sure how well scholarship programme worked, but a lot of players are as good at gaelic as soccer, and might get a gaa scholarship.

Freshers is normally very poor comp, ul won 5 in a row while i was in college, they always put in a proper team, some others just use it as a weekend out!!

its always nice to win,so well done

The WSCAI League has lost a lot of lustre since the giants of the 1990's UCD, DCU and WIT have gone into decline. UL were strong then too so you had a really competitive Division. UCC were even strong at the earlier part of the decade so the Premier Division in that era was as open as imaginable. Not bad for a six team League when up to four teams are potential winners each year. The IT's are dominating in more recent times and I am not sure that is necessarily a good thing. The PLC's are hamstrung by having so many registered students on two year courses so by the time they get into the Premier they go back down because they have lost so many good players through graduation.

The one strong suit is that it's the only Nationally organised League for women , and it's a 32 country one into the bargain with the Northern Universities and colleges participating at provincial level and one day when they have a strong enough squad for long enough one of these could go all the way to the Premier.

It would be good for the competition if some University or PLC won the League for a change and if UL are the strongest candidates so be it. U.L. ( or Thomond College of Physical Education) were the inaugural winners of the Women's Intervarsities Championship back in 1983.(i.e. the Cup competition).
Some winners from the recent past :-
1994/95 winners Premier Division U.C.D.
1995/96 winners Premier Division U.L.
1996/97 winners Premier Division U.C.D.
1997/98 winners Premier Division U.C.D.
1998/99 winners Premier Division W.I.T.
1999/00 winners Premier Division I.T. TRALEE
2000/01 winners Premier Division D.C.U.
2001/02 winners Premier Division I.T. SLIGO

That's from memory anyone wish to correct the list or add in the more recent winners?
