View Full Version : Suspensions for final!
i see from Cork citys website that Gary Deegan is suspended for the cup final for a card received against derry in the last game. First of all I think that is ridiculous considering they are both completely different competitions and the last thing on Deegans mind in that particular game was should he pick up a card he will miss the biggest game of his career. Secondly its an absolute travesty for our hope of winning. Neal Horgan is missing for Cork for similar reasons but i would argue deegan is more important to us then Horgan for Cork. They have cover we dont as james is cup tied!!:mad: Richardson is looking into the possiblity of both clubs appealing to the Fai for leaniency I hope they are successful or we r fooked!

Could Wexler get a start so or is Deegan a different position?
No Rutherford is ahead of Wexler!

Sully only served his suspension against Drogs can't see him been due another one, colly james and Ian Ryan are cup tied too so that leaves us with just Daire Doyle as a recognised central midfielder

We haven't a hope without Gary Deegan.
What are the chances the appeal will bear fruit? I can't see it happening but the fact that it's a joint bid might give us some hope.

The appeal failed.

I'm not sure it's gone ahead. As far as I know, which could be miles off, they haven't 100% decided to go ahead with it.

Good man Rocky! No doubt i'll be seeing yourself and the Shepard on Sunday.
Does anybody know for sure about the appeal or is there still a chance Deego might play?
they haven't 100% decided to go ahead with it.
Why the hell not. God they have been reluctant to follow up an appeal on any of the decisions against us this year at least make the right choice here. Our chances without deegan are significantly decreased because of the quality of the Cork Midfield. His bite in the tackle would be key to us trying to nullify their influence. Without him expect Healy Farrelly Gamble to run riot. We need to win if there is to be any future for this club so pray to God it happens. We have it all to do but we will still remain positive. Matthews said yday that if we were to win and get into the seanta and uefa cups that some of the players may stay. Dont win and whatever chance we had will be gone. Our defence will hold the key sunday and of course Mooney and Baker. Get them on the ball creat the chances and we can do it.

This just in:
A special meeting of the FAI Domestic Committee was held this afternoon to consider requests by Cork City and Longford Town to defer suspensions imposed on Neal Horgan and Gary Deegan to next season.
The Committee decided that it was not possible to adhere to the requests for deferral in accordance with the Disciplinary Procedures of the FAI Ford Cup 2007 which states that suspensions can only be served in matches as determined by the decision of the FAI Disciplinary Commission.
The Commission at its meeting on November 7 determined that the suspensions would take effect as and from November 21, 2007. Therefore the players would have stood suspended even if the Final had gone ahead on November 25.
Both clubs have been informed of the decision.
