Saving videos off websites

Anyone know how I can save a video to my computer from different websites? youtube specifically. Do I need a certain programme or how does it work?

Use Firefox and install one of the video downloaded addons.

by the way if you have a HDTV you can get rid of (nearly ) all the blotchiness of the youtube videos when ye play them off your PC on it. PM me and ill tell ye.
