All in all I gotta say that the WC qualifying campaign was better craic than this campaign, I think that the fact that after Cyprus away it was pretty much over as a contest had a lot to do with it.

at only one game this campaign, away in germany, great craic esp the dodgy dubs fans and a sound crew from sligo........brought the brother with me too ..all tx to a nice win from betfair....

but now that my loans should all be paid by x-mas, roll on the world cup qualifiers............im hoping for somewhere sunny and with cheap beer (but i havent told the wife yet!;))

5 of the 6 home games... missed czech game.

san marino was my first away trip, and finances dictated that i couldn't go the czech/slovakia games, but i was in wales.

san marino away was definitely better than wales mind.

7/12 for (just about) my first campaign, unless you want to count games against the faroes at home.

Missed the San Marino game in Lansdowne cos I was working in Sweden.
Took ages to convince the "Irish" Bar in Karlskrona to show the game.
They wanted to show Switzerland instead!!!!

Didnt go to Cyprus this time around. Saw enough of it the time before.

Hoping to get to all this campaign apart from Cyprus

All the home games and just missed Cyprus away, as like many of the posters above I had been there for the game in the previous campaign
Ditto, although I got a new job and so had to pull out of the Prague game, so just made two weekenders of it. Count that as 10.5/12 maybe?

12/12 plus Denmark which was the best trip. The next campaign will be far far better in terms of trips (and hopefully results).

Was at Germany and Wales away and all of the home games.
Aiming for Montenegro and Georgia away and all home games again. Italy away if a sneaky ryanair can be done.

10/12 for me. Missed the home games with San Marino and Czech Rep.
Going to struggle with the next campaign as I'll have a wedding to pay for, but I'm sure I'll make it to a couple.

Yeah best of luck with that. Bologna till I die.

We were talking to you outside the ground pre-San Marino game when you were looking a bit lost.At least I guessed it was you from reading posts here for years, given there are not many bald Mediterranean looking over 40s;) with English accents going to Ireland games.:D

Not telling who I am though!:p

two options

1) go via stansted (or if you're adventurous, another hub city)

2) fly anywhere into italy and trenitalia. return tickets on fast trains are rarely more than e50 if you book in advance

Aye thats the plan SD, for off-the-cuff travelling you can't beat Ryanair.

London? Difficult? Your travel to away games should be dirt cheap as a result.

To be fair when I was living in London mid week games were a nightmare as it meant more time off work. I think people forget that home games for London/UK baseed fans can take up as much time as the away games.

London? Difficult? Your travel to away games should be dirt cheap as a result. It is in comparison to Dublin (not the same numbers with more options on flights). As I don't go to home games (much) I'm in a far better position financially for away games than you.

In fairness anybody making the effort on a regular basis when based in London can't be faulted for dedication.

Every game is 'away' for me but it's a great excuse for me to go home every now and then to catch up with old friends etc.

oh yeah, i agree that home games require dedication but given the transport links to the rest of europe, away travel is much cheaper than for us, also given the fact there are far fewer people going from london and the prices aren't deliberately inflated by the airlines.

but yes, they do have supreme dedication to make any games.

All bar Cyprus away, as was there the year before.

Made it 3 myself Stuttgart, Czechs at Home and San Marino Away. Which we drove down to from Austria. No petrol stations open on the way back because the Italians where on one their weekly strikes:( ended up sucking petrol from the tank of a German truck just making it over the boarder before we went dry. Stuttgart was the best though
