Is it just me or is there zero build up/excitment/Hype surrounding the FAI Cup final this year?
I assume the FAI have other things on their mind like finding some 3rd rate Englishman for the national team or who's round it is first in their junkett to South Africa than to be worrying about something as trivial as the National Cup Final
it feels like the season is over, hence no-one really cares about the devalued cup

I thought it was all off, cos you guys weren't happy about the dosh.
Hope the Longford lads can summon up one last effort, otherwise it will be a total non-event.

You've answered your own question there.

build up here (http://foot.ie/showthread.php?t=76036)
Given that the clubs arent getting a cut of the gate receipts I cant see the clubs putting much money into creating a buzz, and getting a bumper crowd.
Id say It'l be a very poor crowd

Ready made excuse. Nice. Typical of LOI clubs only pushing tickets for a cup final for fionancial gain. Not to get people to support them...
Anyway, its miles away and the season finished ages ago...

Personally I wanted to see the place plastered for the final, I see it as a launch pad for next season and our bright new start.
However I cant see Arkaga, putting as much money into something when they are getting less return. Maybe they'll surprise me in the next couple of weeks and launch a big initiative when they get in the cup final jersey. i dont hold out much hope though.

But they're likely to make more money than they would have last year aren't they?

Yes but they get that regardless of the crowd.
3 week break to the FAI is beyond a joke. The excuses from the FAI were pitiful & will definitely affect the hype. Playing the FAI Cup final in December with 3/4 of the ground uncovered will do nothing to attract a crowd.
The FAI rarely promote the final so this year is no exception.

So they are insured against a lower crowd then so?
How mean of the FAI to guarantee an increase payout rather than leave them to the whims of the sporting public......

What?
DO you know what the prizemoney was supposed to be before crowd and gate receipts? Cos I presume City and Longford do and believe that it on top of tv and gate receipts would be higher than what the FAI are 'guaranteeing' them now.
Whatever about us but somehow I doubt very much Longford are fighting because the FAI changed the rules to give them more money.....
Anyway could this not be ept to the other thread?

How many fans will Longford bring? Really hope it's a good turn out. I'm looking forward to it especially if it's anything like last years! And to see if RDS works as a venue...

Who's sitting where? might go, but would like to know what the company is going to be like.
Have read on the Cork city forum that Cork City have
North Stand sections A B C D
Anglesea Stand A
Grand Stand K L M N

I'd say that people will be fairly scattered.
Dunno philly Longford would have been allocated the opposite blocks. Both sides oddly enough were only allocated a block each in the anglsea stand. The remaining three must be for FAI sponsors and guests or neutrals maybe.

Clever idea from the FAI

Clever idea from the FAI
A decent idea, but has a fundamental problem.
A not insignifica number of people will want to keep their Cup Final ticket - especially if their team wins.
It's like those promotions that require you to cut something out of your programme. If the FAI better understood hard-core football supporters, they'd know that many of them wouldn't want to part with a winning Cup Final ticket.
Also - I'm not convinced it'll be hugely difficult to get a ticket for the Brazil game.
Agree with you more steve I always like to keep my ticket stubbs from games I've been to win or loose. Won't part too easily with my cup final ones unless I know I wouldn't get tickets for the Brazil game.
Possibly an idea from the FAI to get those who mightn't normally go to a friendly despite the oppostion to go along as well as increase ticket sales for the cup final.

I think that's the general thrust of the concept right enough. If the weather is semi-decent for December you might also get a bigger crowd at the game.

The two longford lads, Deegan and some other chap, both lost their appeals.

In light of the failed appeals Cork to win in a canter!
