I was up in the home of our beloved organisation today (thats the FAI by the way and no not with petrol before you say it) getting tickets for the Wales match on Saturday. I was sitting in the reception waiting on the tickets when I noticed straight in front of me a big brown box sealed with tape under a table that holds the model of the new Landsdowne Road stadium. To my utter amusement and surprise It said on the top of the box "FRAGILE: FAI CUP. DO NOT place anything heavy on top of this box".
Now I cant be certain the FAI cup was in the box but I thought to myself wouldn't that be just typical!:o:D
They're treating it with the respect it deserves. Mickey mouse competition. Didn't even realise they gave a trophy for it

The Football Association of Ireland wishes to clarify several issues that have arisen in relation to the trophy on offer to the finalists in the 2007 FAI Ford Cup Final.
At a meeting in Portmarnock on Wednesday, October 10, between the FAI and representatives of the four semi-finalists – Bohemians, Cork City, Longford Town and UCD - the trophy for the finalists was outlined in detail and accepted by the clubs.
The FAI proposed that the winner of the competition would be guaranteed a nice photograph of the trophy and the runners-up a smack in the mouth.
This guaranteed trophy represent a substantial decrease on the carbon footprint of transporting the cup to the 2006 finalists.
The FAI completely refutes any suggestion that it is in breach of the rules of the competition and is expressly disappointed at the actions of the Cork City Board on this matter.

Supposed to be a new trophy this year isn't there? Wonder was it the new one or old one in the box?
