Fahey has been right mid for most of the season and was picked RM in the team of the year.

What's that got to do with Joe being picked

How is he ahead of Robinson? They play different positions.

Fahey was put out on the wing for most of the season, Robinson's much the better player(he's not only in the team to take the set pieces)

I thought you were talking about Gamble.

They're both quality imo but Id have Robinson ahead of Fahey as a winger

I'm surprised Coleman isn't up for Young POTY.

that was the first thing that struck me when i saw the nominatons. seamie had great season and definitely deserved a nomination for young poty

Didnt he spend a lot of it coming off the bench? Or am I thinking of the wrong person?

Nah your wrong if he had spent most of his time on the bench he scored a hell of a lot of goals from there.

Was he not the sort of 'supersub' at one stage. Kept coming on and scoring late...or am I imagining things again

In your opinion ;)Of course ;)
He has consistently outshone more senior Internationals in our team alone this season, never mind the lesser mortals in other sides. :D

i'd give it to brian shelley. seamie is better than powell by a f**kin mile and sammon only scored 6 goals, not exactly prolific but playing in dublin prob makes the difference.

Important point here players who vote in the ballot CANNOT vote for one of their own team mates so that makes the Award more valuable to the winners. Cause their opponents voted for them.

I suppose thats in your unbiased opinion......

Who has international caps?

They both do. And Powell is better.

Which results in a popularity contest  Roy O'Donovan should have been the first name in both lists, he was by far the best player in the league this year.

He fecked off to England and took the Queen's shillings so he wouldn't be turning up at the ceremony....:D

anytime i look at yer forum it sounds like yer not convinced by him. in my opinion seamie is the most talented player we've had at the club since i've been going to showgrounds

Paul Whelan got Young Player of the Year for the 2nd season in a row.
Delighted for him. Nice bloke.

My vote would be Robinson from what I've seen of Drogs and other teams, he's been the top performer.

I haven't seen much of Mooney but scoring 19 goals for a team that finished in the bottom half (on football) is impressive. And if that 19 are all league goals, then that's 19 out of 34 for Longford. Outstanding.

For young player I'd go with Sammon, going on what I've seen.

Agreed he's not the finished article and has some things to work on but what young player doesnt.

I think saying Coleman is "a f*ckin mile better than powell" is complete rubbish.

After all he is an U-21 and U-23 international and deserves a nomination for YPOTY.How many players in this league have achieved two seperate international call ups this season?

As does Sammon, Quigley, Murphy from Rovers and loads of others. Noel Haverty hasn't made his Pats debut yet and has played for the Irish u18s and u19s this year

Was he playing with Shels this season? If its the same lad he's a quality player.

yeah, went on loan in the Summer window. Big things expected of him. Himself and Eamon Foran (another u10 international) signed 2 year professional contracts last week.

Coleman didn't look too good when he got sent off for trying (unsuccessfully thank the Lord) to break JP Kelly in two earlier this season.

I'd go with Powell - looked impressive when I've seen him play for the National Team (an English friend of mine who'd never seen him play also remarked in a similar fashion when he came on against England a few weeks back)

Correct me if I am wrong but usually YPOTY is confined to those who have made a breakthrough this season and have cemented a place in their side.Powell has done exactly that this year.

Funny if Coleman and Powell were both playing regularly for the one U21 international team which I dont think they were.Powell is an U21 regular while Coleman is not.

Nope. All voters are giving a list of players under 23. Thats the only criteria.

Quigley should win from the nominations...

In that case Mooney should win both in my opinion.

He is for the senior award but if he is nominated for senior and is U23 then surely he should win young player also?

Why's that? Maybe the same people who voted him POTY also voted for him as YPOTY but as there's only 3 nominees instead of 6 he doesn't get named.

I wouldn't have him as winner in either category

Powell is one of the top full backs in the league- Coleman doesn't come into that category.

You can't judge a striker solely on goals scored.

All 3 winners thoroughly deserving IMO. I'd have picked Robinsonbut can't really argue with Shelley

Premier Player was
1) Shelley
2) Robinson
3) Fahey
