We might get one or two but I don't think there'll be more than that. Even at this early stage a lot of available players are being snapped up.
Hence my question.... and well done on fixing the title issue on the thread !

Someone on the Pats forum says that Ian Bermingham has signed for them.
Also was said on there that Pats turned down Conor Kenna in 2003 and that Kenna would have gone to Rovers if that didn't get Maguire.
someone told me tonight that bermo had agreed terms with a manchester based conference side?
Id be surprised given clubs of higher level were interested

Not true Doc, I'm 99% sure he's staying in Ireland.

Well as of a few weeks ago anyway he had decided to stay in Ireland. I couldn't imagine him dropping down to the Conference anyway.

UCD manager Pete Mahon has expressed frustration at the prospect of losing star goalkeeper Darren Quigley and left-back Ian Bermingham.
Ireland Under-21 goalkeeper Quigley is being courted by Bohemians, Cork City and Derry City, whilst St Pats, Leeds and Stockport County want 19-year-old Bermingham.
Mahon said: “There appears to be a tug of war going on over the players, and I am not happy at how this is being conducted.”
Not exactly sure what Mahon is trying to get at. Must be between the mentioned clubs. Bermingham isn't going to England so it's either Pats or us. Quigley would be mad to go to Bohs and sit on the bench, I can't see Derry paying €60k, although I wouldn't be surprised if he went to Cork.
To sum up the above- we're completely ****ed. If Quigley goes he will be by far the biggest loss and the reality is there is nobody available near his class. A top quality keeper can make a big difference at the end of the season.

Thought Quigley was staying put, to be honest. No-one took him last year; why would this year be any different? And him with his new job and all.

Bohs would be a bad move, he'd be competing with another top young goalkeeper. At Cork he might have a chance of dislodging Devine in a year or two. At Derry he'd walk straight into the team but he'd have to actually move there plus they'd have to cough up more cash.

Just to get back to this, does this mean that Quigley didn't come back for pre season training? Likewise for Bermingham?

Fair enough, but then you won't get the news that Derry are lurking for Quigley and that he's probably going to move on...
We're going to be richer than we've ever been with all these transfer fees rolling in, if only we could find a player to buy. :(

According to Dazzy on the Derry forum Quigley has two years remaining on a three year contract. I would have presumed he was out of contract, although I'd say it is likely that he is off the mark...
Also Sulli is all but confirmed going to Cork so he won't be returning to us.

Three year contract?! Get away. We don't normally give any more than two year contracts, and even they're reserved for the likes of Alan Mahon and Tony Mac.
Don't see the point in giving Quigley a three year contract if we get a fee even if he's out of contract anyway.
Looks like quigley is gone, matt greg is staying, never signed for bray officially and looks like bermo will be staying as well.

I'd still prefer if we signed a keeper with experience as Brennan apparantly was dodgy at U21 level last season. I wouldn't have confidence in Gregg as a first choice keeper but beggars can't be choosers at this stage, especially as I wouldn't rule out pineapple stu being the best keeper available to us.

Apparently there were some 'youths' seen lurking around Belfield Park that night. According to some reports they were past pupils of Blackrock College.
A quantity of empty beer cans were found the following morning and there was evidence of a fire in the radio shack.

Derry have signed keeper Gerard Doherty from TNS in the Welsh League.
Improves the changes of us keeping Quigley to about 5%... :(

I wouldn't be surprised if Kenny went for David Forde instead- he's worked with him before and wouldn't cost them anything.

Probably not. Bray were apparently in talks with him though. Don't know how they're going to manage the 65% wage cap.
