So does anyone know when the B Squad will be announced, or is the game not going a head now?

I'm sorry, I'm sorry ...I couldn't resist. The other thread's getting fairly intense. Thought I'd lighten the mood. Aplologies again.;)

Not sure, dont forget the U21's are playing the same night in Athlone.

Probably some EL players in the squad but maybe Cork lads wont be risked.

Can't see any of the senior squad included but the first name on the sheet will probably be Alan O'Brien ;)

What about:
Wayne Henderson
Barry Murphy
Ian Harte
Shane Long
Mark Yeates
Kevin Foley
Darren Potter
Martin Rowlands
Andy Keogh
Derek Geary
Alex Bruce
Joe O'Cearuill
Sean St.Ledger
Stephen Elliott
Jason Gavin
Eamon Zayed
Roy O'Donovan

Everyone called last year's game against Scotland a joke match, then several players from that team went on to win senior international caps in the next 12 months.

Could do with a game or two during that break imo.

Chuck him in the bin. Will be an interesting squad. Might see a few new faces.

Drogheda Duo Called up to “B” International Squad to Face Scotland (http://fai.ie/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2608)
The pair have been rewarded for their part in helping Drogheda United clinch their first ever eircom League of Ireland title this season.

Also included in the squad are Birmingham City’s Colin Doyle and Ipswich Town defender, Alex Bruce who featured for the Republic of Ireland senior side for last summer’s trip to the USA where they played Ecuador and Bolivia.

“This upcoming B international friendly against Scotland is a considerable opportunity for every member of this 18-man squad. From our first “B” international last November, there are eight players who featured that night who received full senior international caps in both EURO 2008 qualification and international friendlies,” said Devlin.

Pat Devlin stated, “It is always a difficult task to narrow an international squad down to 18 as we have a big pool of talented players, moving forward, I think it is important that we continue working on extending the “B” International schedule because at senior international level, sometimes you do not get the opportunity to blood young players, we now have that chance to give vital experience to these lads.”

“There’s a good mix of players in the squad, we have players from the English Premier League and Championship, the Scottish Premier League and of course two from the eircom league of Ireland,” added Devlin.

Agreed, Typical token choice, I know lets take the league winners keeper.

Ryan or either Murphy would have been ahead of him in my book

He's played in defence as well though. Think he got a full cap under Mick in defence.

Caleb Folan

Strange to see Gartland in ahead of Gavin.

Whatever happened to younger Quinn brother at Sheffield United?

Heavy sprinkling of eL past & present

Team will probably be:
Doyle
Foley Gartland Bruce Dillon
O'Donovan Hoolohan Whelan Tabb
Hunt Ward

Perhaps Devlin/Givens decided he is too old to make an impact at international level. This would have been the perfect game to give him a try in.

Whats wrong with having Folan in the squad. Id say he might start this game. Ward might swap with O'Donovan on your team he is playing alot on the wing these days.

Can't understand why there is no place for Preston's Sean St Ledger who is in outstanding form right now.
Strange indeed, spoke to a coach in the game who told me, that Kerr had been keen to get him into the set up when he was in charge and that many in the game rate him as a better player than McShane and Bruce.
Could be a big loss if Ireland don't play him soon as he is also eligible to play for the Northies too

Good to see Holohan & Dillon in the squad. Both playing very well this season for their clubs. There is a large element of youth in there, albeit anyone over 21, which is pleasing. Pity its across the pond as i'd think you'd get a decent crowd (provided its not played on a Tuesday nite when most football fans in the country have training with their own teams).

Ian Harte anyone?

I seriously doubt that Ian Harte would want to turn up for a "nothing" game like this. The guy has 60ish caps so it would probably feel like an insult - rightly or wrongly - to him.

The Scots have a fairly decent squad assembled. Reckon it'll be a good game. Was definitely heading to it myself until I discovered that I already have a prior engagement with Machine Head and Dragonforce in glasgow the same night. I'm not sure which smillie to use. :o   ????

I was looking forward to seeing a few of these lads in action. Jay Tabb, Micheal Doyle etc. Legends in the making according to one or two on this site.
