Harps held by Galway

Finn Harps 1-1 Galway United
Finn Harps chance to go top of the league in front of their home fans were ruined by a dogged Galway United.

Harps were confident of success but were blighted by a dogged and robust Galway performance. The westerners have failed to win a game yet this season but they took the lead through Alan Murphy early on. Harps’ ‘keeper Alan Young did well to save Conor Frawley’s header but parried the ball to the feet of Murphy who had no problem finding the net.

Shane Bradley and Declan Boyle both had chances to stretch the visitors lead but those misses proved to be costly as Harps equalised on 31-minutes. Kevin McHugh was the hero with a cracking drive from 25-yards out.

Both sides then pressed for a winner and the best chance fell to Harps’ Jonathon Speak but he fired inches wide with just three-minutes left on the clock.
