Lads,

Just so you know, a new official site is underway and will be ready in time for the new season no problems. However, I'd like a few ideas from you guys as to what you might like to see on it from a supporters perspective. The following will be included:

News Section (Match Reports (preferably by supporters/match attendees etc etc)
Complete Pen-Pic profiles
Ladies and Underage Section with news gallery etc etc)
Photo Gallery
Full statistics
Ohline Shop (if I can push it through)
Blog (possibly)
Supporters Views
Player of the month polls (hopefully)
Supporter of the month (hopefully)

I have some other ideas as well but would like to hear what you guys think.

Kevin and Paul will continue their good work with regard to match photos etc

good news congrats on that luka, well first would be not to make it look like a betting site when you come to the front page, big ladbrokes sign is horrible, have it, but put it to the side or soemthing,

a fan interview after each game,
sign up for away games online,
if possible have a board member give an update every two weeks or once a month on off field progress, just ground progress and other issues,
more supporters club events on-line,
dunno about exclusively selling merchandise on-line, (maybe a bit infair)
player interviews each week, little keep fit segment,
maybe club events as soon as announced, bands playing in clubhouse and the likes,
have barry walsh dress up in a dress and put photo on site:D,
maybe get some more history, more to rams than 83 and roy keane

Good ideas there Don Ramo. Selling merchandise online is the way go as it opens up a whole new market to the exiles. I know when I was away I wanted a top and had to wait till I got home to get one. However, this method of selling shouldn't and wouldn't I imagine be exclusive to online though. It should and would be available through the usual local sources.

I like the one about BW dressing up...........wonder if we could ever achieve it though. Lets work on it.

All sounds good Luka. I'd love to see a real slick-looking layout. The existing site has been great in itself, but could really benefit from a re-structuring. As for content, how about:

* Proper news section which gets updated every few days at least - comments from Hendo/Barry, team news, injury/suspension news, match previews, U21, youths, ladies, etc. There's so much going on around the club that goes unreported.
* Section dedicated to the ground/town - info for visiting fans, pubs/hotels, ground development updates, etc.
* Dedicated page for U21 and Youths (incl. fixtures/tables).
* Online shop may need to include match tickets (should see sell-outs if we get promoted next year).

I'd agree with all of those suggestions bar the one about hotels and especially pubs. First off if hotels want advertising then make them pay, to be fair i could be wrong but i dont think hotels do rams any favours. And according to a Ramblers website there should only be one pub in cobh the club bar, why advertise other bars like.

Fair point BV, I hang my head in shame. If none of the hotels will sponsor, maybe stick in a link to a relevant tourism website just to give some pointers to our visiting friends.....

I'd also suggest:

* Ground Regulations. Boring and big brother-ish I know but an important part of letting people know that the sort of crap we saw from Dundalk won't be tolerated.
* 'Where are they now?' section.
* Download section for wallpapers, screensavers and of course Marco's famous match posters!
* Any chance of a Fantasy Ramblers game??!!!

I could stick a link to CobhNet.com (http://www.cobhnet.com) as it has a good business directory filled with B&B's, Hotels, Pubs etc etc. The Cobh Peoples Regatta site (http://www.cobhpeoplesregatta.com)use that as a link

ALL SOUNDS VERY GOOD IT WILL BE NICE TO HAVE MORE FAN INVOLVEMENT IN THE CLUB. I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING THE NEW PAGE.
You could also have the foot.ie post of the week. They used to have it on cobhramblers.com but not anymore........what a pity.

Just a sneak preview of the unfinished Photo Gallery for the new site here (http://www.cobhramblers.ie/gallery2)

Anyone got any input thoughts? There are a couple of images in there belong to Don Ramo but overall copyright will be Cobh Ramblers and Don Ramo will be credited for his images.

dont like the format at all.... no thumbnails to jump from picture to picture

luka

Try using the page navigation. Open a category and you can jump all you like. The whole idea is to categorise things so it doesn't look messy.

Would it be possible Luka to have a comment section for each picture? Like say when u watch a video on youtube

No problem, however, comments would then need to be moderated

That rules that out then. Invariably some messages would be OTT and it opens it up to abuse from fans of other teams.

As OFF advertises for Cobh Ramblers then I think there should be a link to it, however, both this and OFF are unofficial el discussion sites so need to look into it.

Don Ramo, what I said was OFF advertises for Cobh Ramblers not on or at Cobh Ramblers and that's probably why you don't see any boards around the ground. OFF has a large banner on it's site advertising Ramblers' social club and merchandise and also has boards lined up for Ramblers' ground next season.

I don't really care if either or both sites get linked to anyway, as we all know where they are. Anyway, there are plans for Internet Advertising as well.
