aldridge 14/1
hughton 16/1

O'leary is awful short.
Bookies' odds just reflect where the money's going. Remember before Stan was appointed, the book was closed about three times on three different people.

Betting on someone to be next manager is always a risk, (unless it's Ramos (Spurs)), especially with the deliver of world class manager Delaney.

Just put €1 on everyone and you will win something.

If you look at the full list that means you will be putting £1 on podge and rodge at 500/1!!

Troussier or Houllier I think.

they look the most likely to me as well, even if i wouldnt be 100% behind their appointments, but didnt delaney try and push Troussiers name into the ring last time

That's a great bet - 2 for the price of 1! :D

If they're joint managers it may be a dead heat though.

I'm on Roy Hodgson - he has loads of international experience and is currently doing a good job at Finland who would be a similar nation to us in terms of players available.

Podge and Rodge wouldn't be yes men to the FAI which I think rules them out :D

Podge and rodge must have declared that they are not interested in the job because they are no longer on the list(there goes my banker for last week!!)

OLE, OLE OLE OLE, OLE HOULLIER

I got him at 20/1 the other day and is now 8s:D

He is still my favourite for the job and I think he is the best option also.

Souness - no chance, I don't know how he is at 8s also.

He was favourite at one stage last time. I think his best days are behind him.

Hodgson @ 20/1 in Ladbrokes, even if he comes in a bit, you can lay off some of it and at least end up not losing any money.

You can usually make money on these books by laying each of the succession of favourites.

Can a mod put this in the rubbish section now? :D - how many 'gambles' have we seen on this particular market now?

A lot of money looks to be going in this morning on Liam Brady. With the expected announcement tonight Boylesports odds are changing every 2 minutes.

Billy Davies drifted all the way down to 2.2 on betfair. I've just made a mint laying him :D

Should make decent money if Venables or Trapattoni get the job. If Davies, Brady, Giles, Dalglish get the job, I'll only win very little.

If it's anyone else, I'll make a huge amount of cash :D

If Allardyce, Sanchez or Hoddle get the gig, I'll make €1,000's :p

Venables is the value now though. You can back him now at 5 and you'll almost certainly be able to trade out at 4.

Eh, Carrigaline, is there anyone you haven't bet on for this. For example, Telly Savalas?

I just bumped this thread from 2007 to show pay no heed to bookmaker's odds when it comes to appointment of managers. It is often from the left field (Brian Kerr apart).

..and Paul Jewell whom Giles went over to interview off his own bat in a very bizarre occurrence.
