Anyone remember Waterford taking over the RDS in the mid-nineties ?
.
It was 1991 in the cup second round. De Blues were in the first division nut we were running away with it and had a pretty handy team. It was estimated that 3,500 travelled to the RDS. We outnumbered Rovers on their "own" (well not exactly their) by 2 - 1. The atmosphere was great.
The only problem was that Rovers hammered us 4 nil. It was still a day to remember though.

Just not vocal enough. I think Dubs only count the ones standing up as well.
What Dubs being able to count!!!!!!! SHOCK
Next you be telling us they can read.
I think it a shame that in Dublin the away fans don't come out to support their team, the amount of, for example, Cork fans living in Dublin that will jump on the band wagon for a FAI Final but won't bother with the el is mad. If 500 fans got off their arse and went to a match in Dublin it would add to the game in so many ways. We have to break this grip the Prem has on the fans in Ireland, with the failing of ITV Dig we can now surpass the quality of the lower divisions in england but it will be years not months in the way of time.
That gives the clubs ample time to get their club followed.
There are thousands of Man UTD or Liverpool, Spurs or Leeds fans who are from the country who will stay in Dubln at weekends. What are they doing??? They say they love football and they watch it all the time why haven't the club done anything to get them interested in the games at home these people are not that hard to trace, (they hardly sound like the Dubs) , Home teams are not the only ones resposible for getting the crowds anymore, The fans have to be won over and boy will the jump when the see the CL Bandwagon come along, first Irish team there will have the Blackburn affect. (Well who knew any fans before they won the EP)
There rant over.. Any match I went to see away or will go to see you can be sure the same lads(and one or two ladies) are at the match

I hate to say this Stu but UCD are not worthy of premier league status in my eyes, there is no real potential for large attendances.
What - any club who gets lower than a certain average attendance is automatically "not worthy" of a Premier place? Don't be ridiculous!
And what do you mean, we have no potential for large attendances? We have Stillorgan, Dún Laoghaire, Kilmacud, Dundrum, Clonskeagh, Foxrock, Blackrock, Mount Merrion, Donnybrook, Deansgrange, Cabinteely, Glenageary - there's 250,000 people for you straight off! There's about 10 buses go to UCD from all over the south of Dublin, so no problem there. The club have over the last season and a bit started tapping into the local areas, and you can already see the increase in home fans. Of course there's "potential" for large crowds!

What, enough to support the team financially, rather than relying on a government subsidy that no other club gets and helps you maintain your false position in the league???

Surely it was 1993, and you were anchored to the bottom of the Premier ???
