Might not be the right folder for this, Nike are buying the manufacturer of Ireland's shirts (along with England, Northern Ireland and 6 Premiership clubs, among others) Umbro for 285 million: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7057577.stm

Same thing happend when Adidas bought Reebok. Reebok still exist. But Bolton seem to be the only club sponsoring them now.... Dont think its the end of Umbro...

It's not the end of the Umbro brand. Nike have preserved the identity of every American Sports gear manufacturer they have bought so far. There are people who are loyal to the Umbro brand who would not buy under the Nike Imprimatur. So Nike will still make money from the goodwill attached to the Umbro brand. It's good business apparently.

There are people who are loyal to the Umbro brand ...like the FAI? I've always been suspicious of the FAI / John Courtenay arrangement.
