UCD definitely pulled into the play-off picture at this stage.

4 teams can still automatically go down. Interesting times

Barring shock results on Friday we will be safe. Waterford four points behind us and realistically the most they can get from the remaining games is three points home to Galway.

Agree. Interesting that we rested half our team tonight though!

Drogs' season is over. Waterford's season isn't. There could be a shock ion the RSC at the weekend. It has happened before to League Champions when they take the foot of the gas.

Happened before that they start walloping teams with no pressure. I'm hoping for that one! :)

Assuming Longford can't make up their goal difference on us, then Bray losing in Drogheda and drawing against Sligo keeps us up. Or Waterford losing to two of Drogs, Rovers and Galway. Or Galway losing to Derry, beating Waterford and drawing with us. All while we lose all our games (bar in the last).

Too many variables for us to get dragged in. I hope!

I must say, Longford are looking more and more like staying up  who would have said that a month ago?

Cant believe the arrogance shown on here by UCD Fans and on their own forum. We wont believe were safe until were mathematically sure we are and if we win on friday we go above Bray and UCD and if waterford win they will only be a point behind all three of us.

This will go right to the wire.

Yes but Galway are playing Derry and Waterford are playing Drogheda. One of the two winning, let alone two, would be a shock. Also our performance tonight will have given Tony Cousins something to worry about for November 9.

Odd that none of the games were shown live tonight - each of them crucial to the only two things still left to decide (Europe and relegation) - after games were shown pretty much through the whole season:confused:

And saying that these were refixed games isn't really an excuse - the games involving the cup semi-finalists were always due to be played tonight and were always more than likely to be important in one way or another.

Where's the arrogance?

We've been here before; we are in pole position of all the teams, and everything's in our own hands; we know we're better than all the teams involved; I don't see any one of us saying we'd rather get the points now before things start getting really jittery. Don't see any problems with that.

Rested for the cup game on Sunday. Only missed two or three games since the start of the '06 season.

In fairness UCD are a couple of points ahead of the teams behind them. Not 15 to 20 points ahead of them. There is very little difference in quality between UCD, Bray, Galway, Waterford and Longford as can be seen in the fact that 6 points separates the lot of them and if Longford hadn't been deducted points only 4 points would be separating them.

It wouldn't take a crazy set of results next weekend for UCD to be in a right dogfight. Personally I think all 5 teams are in a battle to stay up now.

Pats Cork game would have been great for tv, some great counter attacking from us and some great build play from them.

And we won was also nice :)

Clean Sheets at home home have been rare enough his season.
Pats came they scored and were happy enough with that, we passed the ball about a lot and showed very little in the way of penetration. Though their lkeeper made 3 top drawer saves in the 2nd half, Devine made 2 also to keep us in the game.
Gary "Hand of God" O'Neill scored a pretty simple goal, and Anders frustrated the life out of us, (Its a blessing he's from Cork, imagine having him every week)
Booking Woods after he had been assaulted by the Pats right full trying to waste time. Billy was trying to pick up the ball for a throw.
The worst thing for me was the raising of the white flag from our lot with about 5 minutes to go, disgraceful carry on and they were rightly booed off the pitch.
Pats brought a decent crowd for a Monday night, fair play.

Cant believe the arrogance shown on here by UCD Fans and on their own forum. It's not arrogance, it's positivity. You should try it some time.

We're clearly in the best position of the five teams who could go down. Longford can't catch us and one win will have us safe as Galway and Waterford have to play each other. If results go our way this weekend (Galway and Waterford losing), we would only need 1 point to be safe. We're not out of the woods but I don't think we'll go down and any of the other teams in the relegation fight would give their right winger to be in our position.

On a dispassionate level, one is inclined to agree with my fellow UCD fans but it is always high risk to start assuming anything in this game....

Anyhting could happen - we could beat Pats and end any speculaiton but do any of us relaly think that it is out of the question for us to lose 2 games ??

We will all look very silly if the last game in Belfield Park is not St Pat's but a playoff against Cobh or Dundalk or somebody......
