Conan Byrne (http://www.ucdsoccer.com/news.php?id=3963)

Darren Quigley (http://www.ucdsoccer.com/news.php?id=3966)

Conor Sammon (http://www.ucdsoccer.com/news.php?id=3970)

Quigely's has been the best so far.

Sammo obviously doesn't like sitting on the fence:D

What would your team be for sundays crunch game! the real big decision seems to be 1 or 2 up front!!! i really hope we see this:

Quigley

Mahon
Kenna
McDonnell
Bermo

Conan
Finn
King
McWalter

Sammo
P. Byrne

I no alley mc will play but that is the team i would choose!! i think tony mc will play in centre mid and paul byrne will be on the bench, there is that concern of no physical presence if its finner and kinger in the middle of the park! thoughts?

McNally has to start- without doubt our best player this season.

I'd be very surprised if Paul Byrne starts. Only has 70 minutes of competitive action in the past 3 months- he's not match fit. He has to be on the bench though in case we're chasing a goal.

I'm very worried that Hynes might start. He actually looks like an alright player when he tries but he just doesn't seem to give a ****. With no other viable options upfront there's no choice but to play Finn behind Sammo. It was interesting to see that in the second half against Bohs Conan went upfront and Kinger right wing. Both players had quiet games as a result so I doubt Pete will try that again. Looks like Tony has to be in the team so...

GK Quigley
RB Mahon
CB Kenna
CB McNally
LB Bermingham
RM C Byrne
CM Tony Mc
CM King
LM McWalter
FW Finn
ST Sammo

EDIT: **** it, go with Hynes and hope he tries...

Hynes over Tony?!

Don't think 4-4-1-1 would suit against a team like Longford. It's best when we're up against it, like against Derry or Cork. Have to take the game to Longford.

But if we don't play 5 in the middle, Tony will be starting on the bench and that would be sacrilege!

I know; but it still sounds wrong.

Has Paul Byrne been playing U-21s lately?

Paul Byrne ... do you mean UCD's entrant in the "who does your team have who resembles John O'Flynn most " contest? :)

Completely forgot that Hynes is cup-tied.:) 4-4-1-1 is almost certain to be used, unless Moran gets a start.

Is he Cup tied? I thought he just couldn't play against Derry but hadn't lost his eligibility otherwise.

Oh yeah, he isn't. That's what the media reports were saying before the QF but he was on the bench in Dundalk.

Ronan Finn (http://www.ucdsoccer.com/news.php?id=3972)

Interesting links between the teams. Seamus Kelly, Robbie Martin and Paddy Sullivan began their senior careers with UCD, Dessie Baker was on loan to UCD. Ronan Finn's father is from Longford :)

I am not sure about Finn senior on that score but ,UCD Committee member Joe Nelson did as did the late Willie Browne who gained a Republic of Ireland B international cap while at UCD.

Shane McFaul's last up tomorrow - some good answers!

Does he look like Ronan Finn, are we better than Notts County, who keeps trying to get him fined in training?!

Alan McNally.;)

Can't find the quote from pineapple but when he said that it's too passive to play 4-4-1-1 against Longford that's wrong (although I agreed at the time).

It all depends on how you play, not what formation you play. For example Man City have played attacking, attractive football this season with the same formation. Once Pete tells the players to go for them it doesn't matter what formation we play.

In a 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1 if you're on top of the opponents it nearly turns into a 4-3-3 with the wingers on top of the fullbacks.

I think Fran has a bit about him and could become a useful player. It reminds me of a raw Conan Byrne starting the 2005 League Cup final.
