The guy in the second picture is looking far too intensely at a picture of a 12 year old boy for my liking

While it is good to see that it shouldn't matter what the sexuality or gender is of someone in authority in a fictional book (or anywhere else for that matter), the following comment from that article does not help:
And a spokesman for gay rights group Stonewall added: "It's great that JK has said this. It shows that there's no limit to what gay and lesbian people can do, even being a wizard headmaster."
Wow - our eyes have been opened - it's like they are not in some way disabled by their sexual preference. Maybe gay people can even buy milk!
I really hope that it was a really quiet day ni the Stonewall offices and it was a temp reading about Bilbo Baggins who was answering the phones.
Surely the intelligent comment would have been to say that it's good to see that someone can show that there is no physical or mental impediment brought about by being homosexual, the only problem we have to conquer is that of the human prejudice - the most disabling factor faced by most people who differ from the norm.
Personally, however, I think Rowling just said this for the sake of being controversial and drawing in a new market of homosexual people who will now feel reassured in reading it ot their children. I mean to say, Dumbledore never struck me as being that well dressed...
