I know that many of you pop over to ILF from time to time. ILF will soon be closing its forum sections. A new site has opened to take its place and all reds fans are welcome to join. There is no charge for this new site and it can be found here.

Cheers Parker just registered there now why did they change it anyways? I take it anyone can start a thread on this forum free of charge unlike the last one?

Why is the ILF forum going under?

Long Story. Basically the founder does not want to do it any more, but is too closely associated with it to have it continue. Hence the fresh start.

ILF was an awful place to be honest. A microcosm of much of what is wrong with northern Ireland.

Thank feck it's gone. Let's hope a few of the more historically retarded ILF posters - on all sides - don't find this replacement site, and it avoids crawling up it's own arse like its predecessor did....

ILF, while it had its faults, was a great resource for all IL fans and more. It did an awful lot to reduce tensions between fans and educate eachother.

With everything that's gone on behind the scenes since that site first started I'm not at all surprised that its finally come to an end. Good luck with the new one though. Dcfcsteve has very valid points there too.

Well dcfcsteve while there were some idiots on the ILF as Parker says it also did a lot to further understanding between different sets of fans and perhaps helped to dispel a few stereotypes that exist in the minds of some IL fans.

Also the sort of backward attitudes that you are refering to are not confined to the ILF, the worst abuse I have ever been subjected to on an Irish football forum was from a Linfield fan on your own forum derrycitychat!

Why would a Linfield fan be on a Derry City forum?

He knows it because there's a daily drip feed of ILF into another forum that he frequents.

It was a great resource with a huge community in relation to match attendances. There was a few full time troublemakers on it with a nastiness never far from the surface, but it was far from awful - IMO.

Probably wanted to discuss the setanta cup or something I'm not sure of their motives behind posting there:confused: but there seemed to be a couple of Linfield supporters who posted there, I'm sure a Derry City fan can confirm this or you can go and check yourself if you don't believe me!

Always enjoyed ILF to be honest. Yeah there's some plonkers on there but there's also some really funny characters.

Plus I like they way they all hate Derry City. :)

Describing it as a 'hate-filled site full-stop wouldn't be that far off the truth. When they weren't too busy hating each other, then their barely disguised jealousy of our happiness in the EL forced them to hate us.

Contrast it with the welcome any sensible Linfield, Glentoran etc fans get on the City site. We have quite a few IL regulars on there.

The contrast between a site like this and the ILF site was immense in terms of broad ability of people to get on with each other.

Actuallly quite a lot of Glenmen have time for Derry City and whereas others may "hate" them, I would say most feel ambivalent towards them.

A portion of Derry fans, flushed with arrogance after winning through two rounds in Europe (as if this had NEVER been achieved by an Irish club before), did their club's image no favours by bleating about big crowds, TGFITWisms, ****ey Irish League yadda yadda.

Dontcha just love broad-sweeping generalisations?:)

Surprised you like Dire Sh*ty, as they are a far better club than yours and certainly give Linfield more of a challenge ;)

Whats it like to be third or maybe forth best club in Northern Ireland? :)

Correct. I especially agree with the 'hate-filled site' comment.
