We took the lead in the first minute. Free whipped in by Holt, three or four players were up attacking it, Kelly thumped it home. We were on top for about the opening 15 minutes before Kildare came into it. For all the possession they had, they did very little with it. I can only remember one real chance on goal, with a diving header at the far post.
Second goal was excellent. Great work by O'Brien, passed it into Kelly who flicked it out to Sherlock in midrun, took his time and buried it past Russell in the bottom right corner. We were on top then for the last five minutes.
We didn't bring on any subs at half time, though Harney did replace Holt early on in the game. Didn't see Holt pick up any injury though. Wasn't a fantastic second half from either team. Both of their goals were sloppy enough. First one came from a corner, ping ponged around hte box a few times before they eventually hit it home. Second one, Frawley was trying to let the ball go out for a goal kick, but there was no pace it, plenty of players in the box, and he was only a few yards away from goal too, should have just hit it out for the corner. Kildare player managed to get around him and tapped it into the box, and McNevin banged it home. Kildare had a great chance to wrap it up. One on one with Moran but they hit the post, and rebound was hit out for a throw.
Line up was Moran, Shine, Frawley, Hope, J Molloy, O'Brien, S Kelly, Holt, Collins, Sherlock and Mullin. Subs: Harney for Holt, McCann for Mullin and some little fella for Sherlock near the end.
