that sounds more like best city over the last 2-3 bar patsy & biscuits. A selection over the last 10 years couldn't omit the likes of Davie Barry, Mick Conroy, Gerry McCabe, Johnnie C.....

dave wouldn`t turn up for training so i droped him, mick has got a taste for the whiskey so he didn`t get in and the rest wouldn`t be ready for the pressure that the media would but on um..............

I'd go for:

Devine

Napier Daly Hilly Gaz(back in the day)

McCabe Barry Patsy Ollie

O'Flynn Caulfield

13: Biscuits
14: Gunther
15: Fergie
16: Big Dan
17: Skippy

Patsy and Davie provide enough creativity in the middle: sorry Georgie boyyyy

Johnny gets the nod over Skip partly since he would **** off defenders allowing John to knock them in.

1. Biscuits

Fergie, Napier, Hilly, Long,

McCabe, Patsy, Davey, Cahill

Caulfield, O'Flynn

Subs:
Mooney, Daly, Morley, Georgie, Gunther

Manager : Has to be Noel O'Mahoney after all he managed the only City league winning team. After this seasons double Big Pat can take over ;)

Any oldies who were around in the Hibs/Celtic/United/Athletic/Fordsons:eek: etc. days care to give us an all time Cork football XI? Would George Best get in ahead of the Bull McCabe? (over my dead body!) Would Dave Wiggington sneak in ahead of Johnny C? Let us know, if your arthritic, claw like fingers can type anymore.

Muppet, I can only remember back as far as 1969/70 so I can't speak or write about Fordsons etc. The following team is based on players I've seen play.

4-3-3

Ludzic (celtic/city)

brooks (celtic) noel omahoney(hibs) hill(city) john herrick(hibs)

lawson(hibs) barry(city) sweeney(hibs)

caulfield(city) marsden(hibs) wiggington(hibs)

subs: harrington(city)
edwards (celtic)
davenport (celtic/hibs)
tambling (celtic)
wallace (hibs)

I'm off now for me nightcap ;)

Not bad.
I'd put Martin Sheehan in ahead of Hilly though.

Cheers! Wasn't really expecting any Fordson's lads in there. :)

What about Brian Barry Murphy? Was he not playing long enough. Definetley one of the better players though.

Reviving this thread to indulge in a bit of nostalgia.
Does Miah Dennehy (Hibs legend) not merit even a place on the subs bench?

Maybe you should take your own advice. From post 13 onwards, the thread was about the best Cork team of all time. ;)

Just saw this on the resurrected thread, Googled Kabia to see what he was up to now, and came across this blast from his past:

http://members.fortunecity.com/jkabia/

FWIW, Kabia seemed sound enough when he was laughing off the banter directed towards the Cobh bench at Whitehall last season, while Dave Hill blew his top.
