A LOI player can sign with a Junior club if he is released from his contract but I dont think that the can sign for another LOI team until the second transfer Window next year (July) afik.

By best I assume you mean least worst??

Lets have a look at them:

Tierney - Not Bad
McCarthy - Has underachieved, our most natural goalscorer IMO
Clarke - Not good enough
Kelliher - Criminally underused by Ski
Moran -

Cant believe the above
Tierney and Clarke are both fantastic prospects..
Tierney is 18 and Clarke is 17....
If you cannot see the ability that these 2 players have time for a visit to specsavers..
both will be better players than the other 3 and that is not slagging off any of those players either..

i agree both Clarke and Tiorney are good prospects but i think people are being a bit harsh on Moran after all AFIK he is Limericks Top scorer. From what i have seen albeit just a few games early on against Kildare and Monaghon. He linked play very well and made some intelligent runs and passes

Thought Tierney was 21 :o

From what I've seen of Clarke I think his attitude is ar$e but again thought he was a bit older than that :ball:

For the first few games

Which is why we're being so harsh

That's around what I thought

And since I thought Tierney was around 21 and Robbie has more talent in one of his baby fingers you can see where I got my Tierney opinion from :ball:

Clarke - Not good enough

Ah come now. Hes 17 years old, has scored in nearly every u-21 match hes played in this season and has been capped for Ireland u-16 and u-18. Good prospect IMO!!

I think we should stick with Clarke and Tierney as they are the future, and Robbie Kelliher has to get fit. Other than that we should sign a target man cos that is something that we badly badly need. Derek McCarthy can join Pike 'cos as far as I'm concerned he's a spent force and we continue to achieve mid-table mediocrity with him as our main man. Limerick legend as he is, he is not a striker that will fire us to promotion. I wouldn't be against keeping him, but only as a back up player. Au revoir to Padraig Moran.......

I'm telling you. At the moment his attitude is all wrong and he'll get kicked up and down the First Division if it keeps up.

So have I got this straight.L37 doing well in 3rd spot not too far off 2nd.Still in the cup and looking quite solid considering the style of play.Word gets round the 4 heroes of the apocalypse are coming back to force promotion.Everyone, without exception, says this is great. They come back and next result is a 4-0 win against a weak Athlone side and then .................the season falls asunder.

Now they are all gone again bar one

Think you have summed it all up in this post. I have to agree with you! I would have liked to see Moran play a bit more this season. He had the heart and workrate and thats what you need in Division 1. I cant see him at Limerick next season and LTID says Kelliher is gone and apparently McCarthys gone too.. whichever the case we need a prolific goalscorer for next season. Cobh, Dundalk and Finn Harps all have one and if we want to compete with them we need a 15+ goalscorer and none of the lads we have now fit into that catagory.

We wont be competing at that level next season

Carthy proved he can be that player if used properly.

As it is may I suggest we find a target man somewhere

Apparently its

Buckley,Barrett,colbert,kelleher >> Fairview
Tierney,McCarthy >>Pike
Moran,Clarke >> Unkown

Buckley hasn't played in I don't know how long

Kelliher hasn't started in I don't know how long

Colbert has spent his entire time here being played out of position

Tierney isn't experienced enough to be the lead striker yet so if everyone else is being let go then how bad??

McCarthy hasn't been used properly since coming back and since he broke his hole running in every game for us I wish him well

Moran is a waste of money

Clarke is similar to the Tierney situation.

Mistake leaving Colbert, Carthy and Kelliher go in my opinion, thes rets are squad players, I personally would have kept Tierney and Buckley on the cards, but can understand them being left go

Jofspring

I think Tierney would be the biggest loss as he looks like one of the most promising players we have. only problem with letting alot of players go is who do we replace them with. will we bring up alot of the under 21's?? and who's to say alot of them won't go back playing junior aswell.

PinBallWizard
16/10/2007, 9:45 AM
I wonder who's making the decisions to let these players go? It is strongly rumoured that Ski is on his merry way to Athlone (hallelulah) so I doubt any of the releases would be down to him. Finnin is not tactically astute enough to make such calls.

Has anybody else heard that Alan Reynolds is already lined up for next season? If he is, then he could be the one making these changes already as part of a clean out.

Rumour I know, but I got it from a pretty good source who has been spot on before....you never know

Colbert must be getting fed up at being played on the right

Maybe a change of management would convince him to stay.......

ya but the two players ye get wouldn't lace kelleher's boots,he was the best player around two years ago and he hasn't played one full match this year!it would be a mistake to leave mccarthy go as he is the best goalscorer around for the last five years.ye've all bad opinoins on robbie.. wasnt long ago all the leeches in the shed were singin 'oh robbie kelleher'!!

Robbie Kelleher is one of the most naturally gifted players I have ever seen play for Limerick and I'm disgusted at losing him.

It's sad to see Robbie go, but he is not fit, and an unfit Robbie Kelliher is no good to no one. It's partly the clubs fault for not having a fitness coach, like when O'Connor had Dave Mahedy. But the onus is on Robbie as well to get fit, and he hasn't managed it. I cannot understand why players like Tierney would be let go though. He made the step up to senior this season and did very well considering how young he is. He's not on big money either. If we're going to be letting players like that go, what's the bloody point in having an U21 side? I'll reserve judgement as it's only all rumour at this point, but something is seriously wrong if players like Tierney, Barrett and Colbert are left go :ball:

Latest rumours doing the rounds here are that Ski isn't coming our way anymore but has decided to stay with yourselves. Other rumour is that Paugie is coming back to Athlone. Both of these from a source that can be trusted generally.
