Rovers duo face scans

Key Shamrock Rovers duo Tony Grant and Shane Robinson must face scans on knee injuries sustained in Sunday’s draw with defending eircom League champions Bohemians at Dalymount Park.

Rovers are already short on attacking options, with Trevor Molloy and Liam Kelly the only other experienced options up front for Liam Buckley’s side.

And the shaven-headed Grant, who has missed two of Rovers’ four games already this season, looks set to be ruled out again after being forced from the action before half-time in Sunday’s game.

He was replaced by Kelly five minutes before the break after sustaining a knock above the knee.

Robinson’s worries only surfaced after he had played the entire 90 minutes on Sunday, and he will undergo the scan to determine the extent of the damage, which is suspected to centre on the knee cartilage.

Should the tests reveal that right wing man Robinson must spend a time on the sidelines, Buckley would probably be forced to move Stephen Grant over from the left side, and restation James Keddy – who has been playing at left back so far this season – to his more familiar left side of midfield role, with Pat Deans returning to the back four.

Rovers meet early pacesetters Cork City at Richmond Park this coming Sunday.
