Hi

I'm changing my usual geographical approach to home matches for Germany next Saturday - I will be driving from Tyrone to Dublin on Saturday afternoon.

Any advice on best places to park?? I was thinking Ilac Centre..or around there somewhere? Would appreciate some help....thanks very much

Possibly the wrong place to post.....sorry!

ilac centre isn't bad but not ideal if you are ehading north afterwards.

You could arrive early and pick a street where charges stop at 7pm and feed the metre until then.

Park up around Collins Avenue, donnycarney church and get abus down/back.

There is a housing estate directly across from Whitehall (Home Farm's ground) with free onstreet parking. that's walking distance and the right sid eof the city.

Lansdowne was much easier or maybe we just used to know where to go.

didn't they change the distances that you'r allowed park at for croker recently or was that just proposed.

as I understand it there will be no street parking for 1.5 km from croker. there's definitely an exclusion zone anyway.

love the story about the plumber who parked his van in someones drive. home comes the owner, can't park his car so he blocks theplumber in the drive.

severall hours later no sign of him so house owner rings the number on the van and tells him it's an emergency job in a hotel in merrion square or somewhere. 10 minute later over comes our hero to find his van locked in...

knocks on the door " excuse me.. do you know who owns that car so I can get me van out.. I've a got a job on you see"

well.. you can guess the rest

There's a car park beside the Church at Whitehall, about a mile the city side of the tunnel entrance. There's no charge and its on a bus route or you could walk to Croker from there. The traffic was pretty bad around on the Saturday of the Wales match but could be reasonable for the time of the night match with all the shoppers off the road :D

Park in Connolly Car Park, 4 squids for the day on a Saturday and its only a 10 min walk from Croker

Agree Lansdowne was easier. But for last few Croker games I have discovered what for me is ideal.
I'm coming from north east up M1.
I park in quick park at airport (e1 per hour or e7.50 max)
Take the free shuttle every 5 mins over to airport. Go to Bus Eireann desk in arrivals hall, ask for 1 day family rambler ticket, costs e8.50, and hop on dedicated green double decker 747 airport-city centre express bus, runs every 10 mins, outside arrivals and be in city centre within a few mins (it uses port tunel and bus lanes).
This ticket covers 2 adults and 4 children (we are 2 adults!)
This covers you to o'connell st or busaras plus return to airport and unlimited bus travel within city centre if you need it. After the game I walk to busaras (15 mins) and take the express 747 back to airport and shuttle over to quick park ready for direct journey home.
Overall it may not be as quick as parking close to ground but for e16 all in I get hassle free transport and peace of mind knowing car will be safe from clampers or whoever.
Works grand for me anyway!

One other option is Clontarf Road Dart Station a wee bit of a walk but free parking
