View Full Version : Lee-An Insult To The International Team.
Is there any justifycation In Mr. Kerr's intrest in this fellow by the mane of Lee.(alan)
I dont believe so, ive seen him play and i have come to the painstaking conclusion in labeling him- CR*P.
plain and simple.
rotherrham are not movers and shakers in the world, so whyt not look to the home front for a change.
surely it would be more productive to give, just for example wes houlahan or john o flynn a chance, at least train with the seniors.
a chance to give our league some kind of moral boost.
granted, the inclusion once again of Glen Crowe has, but why not take it a step further and make crowe's inclusion out to be something more that just a token for being the best stricker in ireland.

Lee is well worth his inclusion for scoring nearly 20 goals in Division 1 for a very small club. Like it or not, this is a better achievement than Crowe scoring 30 goals against part-timers. Crowe deserves his call up, but to call Lee an insult to the national team, especially when he hasn't done anything, is ridiculous.
He was thinking about declaring for the US after being left out of the Greece game, but you couldn't blame him - he's 24 and probably just wanted to give the manager a reminder that he was there. There's no point waiting around forever in the hope of getting a cap - if he wants to play international football, he might as well be a bit pro-active about it.
And why bother patronising the league with token call-ups to train with the big boys? If a player is in the squad - eL or not - he should be there by merit. Otherwise it means nothing.

I think that any squad call up should be based on merit .
At the moment Ireland has a dearth of fit strikers. The English first division is a much higher standard than the EL. Alan Lee has scored goals there for the last couple of seasons so in my opinion he is more deserving and a bigger prospect than any EL player.
You have to remember that Glenn Crowe couldn't make it at a 1st Div Club and he's banging the goals in in the EL.

yeah but glen is a far better player than he was 3 years ago . also this is the same alan lee that was released by aston villa three years ago so maybe people shouldnt be judged on how they did as youngsters.

Yeah, you're probably right but when you think about scoring 30 goals in the EL is not as good as scoring 20 goals in the 1st division in England.
How many capped international players do the EL teams play against and with each week.
I would think that Lee plays against quite a lot more capped international players in the English 1st division.
So on those grounds alone you would have to say that Lee is equally if not more entitled to inclusion than Crowe.
Although Crowe does have a good record in European competition.
You know it always makes me laugh when people want youth over experience.
If you look at Kerr. He's not a PR man. He picked the most experienced players available to him.
I've already heard people slagging him off on radio because he's picking people like Carsley over Partridge, Healy or Alan Quinn.
The fact that none of them has much experience of top flight first team football never mind international football does not seem to enter their heads.
Picking Breen gets them going as well.
They are calling him conservative because of this yet seem to forget that since he's taken charge we've only conceded a flooky free kick and the defence has looked very solid.
When you consider the shambles it was in in the Russian and Swiss game I think he's done well.
