Strange question is right! I'm no genius, nor science sage, but my hypothesis would be that the sweat still comes out, but before it floods is Bounty-kitchen-paper-esque soaked up by the anti-perspirant. That's what my logician's mind is telling me but I could well be short of a little inspiration to compliment my perspiration to help reveal the true life cycle of a bead of sweat faced with the impenetrable barrier of nasty chemicals. Can anyone find any, ahem, links to reveal all? :)

God damn science gobbledegook, hard to understand! Feic it, I'm sure it's safe, don't worry Mojopin if a splurge of sweat erupts out of one orifice or other of yours I'm sure I'll be having a similarly squirming experience. :D
I haven't read Dodge's link, but basically you have either a deodorant, or an anti-perspirant. Most products combine the two.
A deodorant will, well, mask the odour.
An anti-perspirant will block the pores in the skin with some form of aluminium gunk, to stop sweat coming out.
Personally I try to stick to just deodorants. Less interfering with the body's natural actions. Washing once in a while helps also.

I remember reading somewhere that it blocks it completely and it then will come out through you head and can contribute to baldness .

I'm with Nobby. I prefer to stick with deodorants.
Anti-antiperspirants don't actually block up your pores, they make the body squeeze the sweat glands shut. The sweat doesn't go anywhere - though you do have to lose the heat through other mechanisms - radiative, breathing and sweating elsewhere, so I imagine they do encourage you to sweat more in other parts.

I find it very hard to get deodorants these days.
Should this be renamed to "The Metrosexual Thread"? :)

My father is convinced that aerosols and all this stuff is back for your lungs, that inhaling the smell after its sprayed cannot be good for you. I sorta agree, cos the smell is horrible going into your nose!!!
They're very hard to find, dahamsta. I was in a supermarket last week, having a good root around. I ended up getting a particular lynx (a brand I normally avoid) as it was the only one that didn't mention anti-perspirant on it.
A pharmacy is often a better option.

It has been a great fear amongst women for years that the glands do get clogged & that has attributed to the rise in breast cancer. Not so sure myself.
But anyway as a female, I dont sweat or perspire, I glow!

The whole blocked pores thing is ridiculous, you'd swear people were going to explode with a major sweat backup the way they go on. The reason I don't like anti-perspirants is that they interfere with the natural perspiration process, which to be perfectly frank makes me itchy. I'd prefer to mask any dodgy smells built up over the day than be uncomfortable.
(Of course it's not good to inhale them. Hold your breath.)

It's an absolutely disgusting advert too. Thought that deserved a mention.
