Oddly i think this will help the EL from the kiddies up.

i think this game will help the EL in the fact that ireland is only 2nd to japan in terms of console to household ratio ie 2 our of every 3 hours in ireland have a console.

Fifa usually sells 600k over here so with EL inclusion it should get 601001k(inc UCD fans who chipped in for one to buy it :p)

So from next friday 601001 people will be buying this game and all have the option of playing with irish teams, something you do after a while in game as playing with the top teams gets boring.

FIFA is terrible and cannot be compared to pro evo as a game as FIFA has a goal button which means get to within 30 yards of the goal and you press a button a goal happens, there is no skill involved

how many here buying it on the strength of the EL licence alone?

thanks to city till i die my kids dont get corrupted by the licence :D

Definitely buying it ASAP. Purely only cos of EL in it, otherwise I'd be buying Pro Evo...there's just no comparison to the two in terms of gameplay but FIFA has EL so they get my money:).

Did I read that right? Six hundred thousand copies of the game in Ireland? And it's terrible?

Do ye think this would have to be pre-reserved or is it likely shops will have plenty of copies?

I pre-reserved mine weeks ago but you'll get one no bother in the shops. FIFA is woeful. The game play is so easy. Just getting it to see the LOI. Probably get bored of it in a day or two. Might be able to sell you a second hand copy.:D

They didn't put first division teams in it so I won't be buying it.

Firstly, you should buy it as it supports the league as a whole and the money coming in will improve the league.

Secondly I think considering your intentions to be in the Premier next year that you would be eager for it to do well so that you will have the glory of playing as Dundalk in FIFA 2009.

I think it is. The FIFA games normally do be on all formats.

Any chance there might be a first division team or two for promotion/relegation in manager mode.

Honestly I won't be buying it, wouldn't even if the 1st Division was included as the FIFA series went to hell right after Road to World Cup 98 and has never recovered. I see how having the EL included might help improve our image, but generally I don't think the majority will pick Cork, Rovers etc. to play with unless they are already EL fans. I mean given the choice between being Joe Gamble or Lionel Messi who would you go for?

Risteard
20/09/2007, 12:28 PM
Joe Gamble.
Hence, the purchase.

I don't believe that for one second :)

:confused::confused:
I've played as Barca for the past two years.
I probably wouldnt buy Fifa 08 were it not for the eL.
Now if you're asking would i prefer to really actually be Lionel Messi, well thats another question.

How does the league get money out of it?

Maybe the same way it did for the Premiership before Championship teams were included, i.e. no kits or crests but player names.

If you order it on play.com (http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStation2/4-/3359531/FIFA-08/Product.html), when are you likely to get it delivered? It's 29.99 sterling there, is that cheaper than buying in shops?

Maybe the same way it did for the Premiership before Championship teams were included, i.e. no kits or crests but player names.

The other teams included apart from the Premier are:

Dublin City - Dundalk - Finn Harps - Kilkenny City - Limerick FC - Monaghan Utd - Shelbourne
